So here in Boise we have gotten our fair share of snow this year. This morning there was about 6" of fresh powder, so I had to find a reason to go out and drive in it.
On my way to the store, with my 4Runner in 4hi, I went around a corner, and slid right around in a 360. I was amazed, because I did not have the diff lock on, so I was under the assumption that VSC would have kicked in to help control the skid. I was puzzled, so I tried it again, and same thing could cut cookies do 360's as if VSC was off. I then used my ABS, and the VSC then kicked in, and from there it worked like normal. I went in the store bought some milk and came back out. In the store parking lot I tried the same thing, just 4hi, no center diff locked, and I was able to do cookies, 360's everything. I then got some speed up, slammed on the brakes used ABS, and once again VSC kicked on. So poses my question, does VSC only activate once you use ABS?? Can anyone else try this?
