VW Beetle

I'm helping my grandmom look for a new car. She wants a small 2 door and won't look at anything American. We checked out the new Civics but she didn't like the ride height or the intrusive headrests. On our way home from the Honda dealer she noticed a Beetle so we're thinking of checking them out. Anybody have experience with them? All the reviews I read make me concerned about reliability.

No experience with the Beetle. But we don't see that many around here. Only ones that seem to drive them are the Geek Squad, and that's not necessarily a great endorsement.

Any reason why she wants a two-door? The Corolla is pretty nice, inexpensive, and reliable. Only comes with four doors though.

They're made in Mexico and they have been known to have issues so just be aware. Avoiding the turbo models is a good start.

My sis in law had one, the only thing that failed was an O2 sensor at roughly 60K.

We've had a VW for 5 trouble free years. Absolutely no problems. I'd also suggest the Rabbit. It carries a lower price, there is more space than a Beetle and comes in a 2 door. The engine has been built for reliability.

my girlfriend has one and it seems like they have alot of electrical problems
