I like how BlackWorksInc actually has a brain that hasnt been starved of oxygen. He said exactly what you all need to read... The 2 SUV arent even in the same class! You make stupid comments like my 4 Runner is more customizable... Anybody can lift an SUV, add roof racks, put grill gaurds. Your 4 Runners arent anything special lol! Its so sad how you guys trash the Touareg with your last breath to defend your little 4 Runners... I came in with an honest opinion, pointed out flaws on both my Touareg and your 4 Runners and you still act so simple minded, even more so to call all my statements a lie lol like WOW you really want to be that stupid eh?

Face it these 2 vehicles arent even close in comparison and yes the Touareg has issues but so does every single other car that includes your little 4 Runners in all their glory! Yeah, most of what he said didn't make any sense/is not true. None of the things he mentioned on mine have gone out, and I have almost 130k miles - with lots of that in offroading & towing the below all over the mountains & very hot deserts.
So i already pointed out in my mass reply to all of your posts giving your own forums links as evidence of the claims but apperntly your still indenial so if you need to see them yourself by all means click the hyperlinks i did the work for you.. But hey maybe all of these people suffer from lemons or are over exaggerating like myself?
Now have some other things given me issues? Yes, mostly electronic and were handled completely by extended warranty.

Oh FYI thats how i found the forum is because i was trying to see what i could do about an issue with her 4 Runner which while reading i came across your idiotic rant and rave about the Touareg vs 4 Runner.
This is dumb. They are, as mentioned, two different types of vehicle. My boss bought a Toureg because we represent the district that just opened the first VW plant in America in over 30 years. I got the honor (ha!) to drive it from Chattanooga (hometown) to D.C.; my duty station and his.
It is a damn nice car. Smooth and refined. It is much more luxury than the 4runner, but I wouldn't attempt to take it off road. I got to drive it for 700 miles, so I got to really experience it. His was the top of the line model. Very, very nice.
2 totally different vehicles. If your measure of manhood is attached to a vehicle, then something is off. You can't compare things all the time... so stop trying.

This is funny. A mall-crawling, soccer-mom loving, unreliable crossover vs an off road worthy, body on frame, truck based SUV of a 4Runner. I like how the troll talks about accessories such as grille guards, too funny! Try bumpers, skid plates, winches, lifts, tires, etc. Go back to the Toureg forum and help people decide which chrome rims to get for their wife's crossover when it gets out of the shop.

I haven't been able to find a picture of a Touareg with a Full Metal Front bumper and rear full metal bumper with tire carrier like we can fit on the 4Runners. I would also be concerned with the unibody frame standing up to the abuse serious offroading puts on a vehicle, the Cherokees and other unibody SUVs often suffer severe frame cracking.
Not saying I don't believe you, but the only severely off-road built Touaregs I have seen are the VW Rally Racers, which are heavily modified from the original vehicle and thus it would be like comparing a 4Runner to a Baja Racing 4Runner.

I guess that's what happens when someone finds it impressive that an all wheel drive crossover can drive over a small rock and films it. Whereas 4Runners, and other trucks, do that and more, regularly. Funny you bring up the RAV4, which is a crossover just like your Touareg, and the V6 in that will wreck the V6 and V8 in your crossover. But that's a whole other story. Go play with your high tech air conditioning and all wheel drive through some puddles and be proud of your minivan in disguise!

I usually stay out of these arguments, but I believe I can speak from experience on both sides. I previously owned a 2005 Touareg, which I sold to purchase the 2011 T4R I currently own. The fit and finish of the VW is superior to the Toyota; however, the reliability, maintenance costs and mechanical issues with the VW led me to look back to the reliability of Toyota. A drive shaft having to be replaced at 30K due to an engineering flaw VW wouldn't acknowledge is not the superior German engineering I expected. Tires at 18,000, which most VW Touareg owners would tell you is good because most only last 15,000. Then came brake pads and rotors to the tune of $1,200. IMO the Touareg has several issues to resolve before it starts thumping its chest at the 4Runner. Look at the topics in the two forums and decide for yourself. Most of the VW Touareg forums are geared towards mechanical issues instead of modifications and pictures. I will say the VW forum was full of very knowledgeable people who provided lots of helpful information. Sorry to hate on the Touareg, but it left a hole in my wallet at 31,000 miles.

I'm gonna have to stick up for the Touareg. My parents own a 2011 Touareg tdi and it's really nice. I don't even think you can compare the two. There are things good and bad about both. For instance the Touareg hauls ass and still gets good mileage, something you can't say about a 4runner. My parents also tow our 6000lb boat with very little ease. The 4runner would be struggling to keep up. One thing I have noticed is how much more solid the Touareg is than my 4runner. Everything is well refined and not near as much cheap plastic as what Toyota does. We have taken the Touareg off road and although it doesent do as well as a 4runner due to clearance it does pretty darn good considering it's not made for off roading anymore and has street tires. Coming from a VW lover and Toyota lover you can not compare these vehicles. They are just not the same type of vehicle.
