What's wrong with wanting power lift gate open and close? Had a new Tahoe for a couple weeks and that feature kicks ass.
I'm wondering how long the rubber finger pad on the lift gate will even last.

I'm still able to open and close my gate. Right now when it breaks its $40 to replace a shock. My neighbor's Ford has a power gate and it cost him $650 to fix his.

I'd say no chance. The 3.5L in the new taco plus a 6 speed should be around 300/300. Pretty close to the current 4.6L with less weight and better mpg.

If we're lucky, we'll get the 8spd auto. For me that is my #1 wish list item. #2 is smaller size.

Sigh. Yeah, I figured the V8 was probably just a total fantasy. But it would be so awesome if it happened. A true Christmas miracle...

No. There is a small bag of Unicorn Horn powder in every glove box that takes care of any issues like rubbing, thunks, leaks and squeaks. Just sprinkle a bit on the fenders and body mount and they mold to allow tires to fit. Honest. I read it on the internet.

... I heard it was already a done deal that it would come with a 3" lift, supercharged 5.7 L V8, 35" tires, Lexus 570 interior, manual transmission and ride like a Cadillac on the road and handle 110 mph desert runs with no problem.... annnnnd, it's only going to cost 17,312 list!!!

I've seen a few threads addressing this topic but I haven't seen anyone mention the 4runner's amazing resale value.

It seems like buying now, before inventory is low and you can't get exactly what you want, may not be a bad idea. You get the vehicle without waiting an extra 18 months and its depreciated marginally by the time the new model comes out. Then you can decide if you'd like to trade your vehicle back to your dealer for the latest and greatest or keep what you've got if you're happy.

Maybe I'm just justifying for myself because I'm hoping to get a new TEP soon. I've been lurking here a while :behindsofa: but haven't posted much (if any), so please go easy with the grilling :help:

There's many threads on that topic. Basically about 72% of sticker after three years which ranks it top in SUV's. The Tacoma beat it by one or two points for overall but it was Tacoma/4Runner as #1 and #2.

A new GX460 base is only $50,410 MSRP. A Limited 4runner is $44,628 MSRP.

The only dual vvti supercharger I know of is a rotrex kit our of Australia and you're looking at $10k for it.

In all seriousness if you want a v8 - a nice used late model GX can be had for less than a new limited 4runner. I compared both and could have bought a '13 GX with low miles for less than my 4runner, but I liked the 4runner better with the v6. YMMV.

To the OP: Personally speaking, I would get the last year of a generation instead of the first year of the next generation.

By the final year, the bugs have been pretty well worked out. On the first year, new ones have been introduced.

I know people who swear that the final year of a line maintains resale value better than the earlier years, but I don't have anything statistical basis to back any of this up.

Hate politics in this setting but in reality : The V-8 was discontinued while Bush was in office due to rising gas prices from from all the cheap oil we were promised but never got from our adventure in Iraq and the V-8 won't be coming back , no matter who gets elected. As was pointed out a hundred times , decisions about future products are made in advance and that was under Bush the oil man running the show for 8 years. I know facts are not big with a certain party but the biggest horsepower , gas guzzlers you can buy are coming under Obama. Can you say Hellcat.

Sure there is, I posted this a few days ago in 2016 4Runner thread,

I purchase a new 4Runner every couple years or so and never trade in (not even a tax advantage in CA) I sell to private parties using kbb full retail as a guide and sells within a week. I allways pay cash so no finance charges added. $36,890 + T&L for my 2015 and sold my 2 year old 36k mile 2013 Trail for $33,750 and of cource the tax and fees I paid. The combination of a good quality vehicle made in Japan in limited production numbers and strong demand equal high resale. It cost some (maybe 7K) but overall not bad, just getting rid of that stupid fender antenna was worth the money (lol) . I love these 4Runners and can't wait to see what the 6th gen looks like.
Note : The dealer offered me $30,500 for my 2013 as a trade in. I declined.
