All the dealers in my area are telling me that they are going to have to special order it and it will take 90-120 days! Then there are a couple telling me that it will just take a couple months max! That is forever but I also dont want anything different then how I have it layed out. What normally is the waiting time? Here is the vehicle that I want:

I placed a special order on November 29. I was told that delivery would be in four to five months. I have ordered cars before, and the time isn't unusual for an import, at least in my experience. Domestic orders I've received in two to three months.

I got a call from my dealer yesterday notifying me that the vehicle has been built and shipped. This is the first notice they get from Toyota, he said. It will take another 30 to 45 days before delivery, but the dealer will be notified when the car arrives in port and when it leaves port for the dealer's lot. He promised to call as these events occurred.

So far, I'm impressed with both Toyota and the dealership. In the end, it looks like I'll take delivery in less than four months from the order date.

Dennis' story sounds right. The dealer should know something once the truck is built & put on a ship to the US. Until then, your dealer will not get any kind of update. Basically, I have been told that the entire process will take 16 weeks. From the day you place your order, you may as well sit around for 3 months before you even call your dealer for an update. Once it hits the ship, it takes about 30 days to get to you (well, that is what the timeline is for the Southeastern US).

I was originally told 6-8 weeks, but that was a flat out lie. So the dealers telling you that they can get a special order in 2 months will have you holding nothing but your jewels in 8 weeks while they make excuses & try to sell you something on the lot.

My advice, get EVERYTHING in writing including a copy of the special order on the day you place it. Tell them you are willing to sit & wait while they place the request.

I ordered the same exact vehicle on November 12 and picked it up on January 31. I didn't hear anything about my specific vehicle unless I called...except for the day it came in.

Had it for a couple of weeks now. Seems like the wait doesn't matter anymore........

sounds like i may be waiting awhile then. however a new dealer that i started to work with said that he has one that he can trade for that is coming in on the boat, so hopefully i can get ahold of that. do you have any pics of your new 4runner ct?

here is part of an email I just got from a dealer on the 4Runner that I wanted to order. Dealers BS more and more everyday!

"We checked all other dealerships in the States and not one orders 4Runners with the factory DVD system, it is only available via extra special order. There is however, a very small number of 4Runners available that match all other specifications that you outlined. In order to have your vehicle ready within a month, we'd need to install the DVD system, on site, by our approved technicians."

I just got off the phone with a new dealer. They found EXACTLY what I wanted that is on the boat on the way over to another dealer. They made the trade and I will have it in just over a month! I CANT WAIT!!!
