Stubbys were growing on me, so I went and got one. I like the look compared to the nasty long one.

Magnaflow

Installed the Magnaflow 22". Nice low tone, good response and no drone annoyance.

Here we go again........

Well its been awhile, sold the 2010 runner due to a unknown suspension issue that Toyota could not fix. So after a few years I found myself getting another 4runner that I had shipped in. Seeing that 5th gens have come a ways since those days, Im excited to venture into this again, only this time with the simple overland build. Not to much........

First Steps

Well today I got the Runner back for the first Mod. Added a ICON Stage 3 lift with KMC XD127 Agent Wheels and BFG KO2 tires. Rides nice no rubs. More to come!! I like how it ended up.

what kinda suspension issue were you getting on your 2010 4 runner?

what kinda suspension issue were you getting on your 2010 4 runner?

It had a Revtek spacer lift, Lots of clunking and nose dives. Just didn't feel safe with it, and at that time didn't have the funds and knowledge to really fix it to make it right. Since i have learned more with another vehicle over time, I can come at the new one with better experience to make it right.

K&N installed

Little things at the moment while i wait for the other parts to come in still. So I took out the stock air filter and put the K&N in. Was funny to hear the engine start up as it was trying to suck in so much air, like it was starving for air. After it figured it out it adjusted. Now this is not the first time ive experienced this, however its been awhile since ive heard it from my 2010 runner.

I decided to stay with the enclosed box for now, keeps the dirt out a little longer and dont have to clean as often.

Tinted

Today I had the Runner tinted with a 20% black. Was nice and darker on the inside. Looks pretty cool on the outside as well. I didn't get a chance to do a before after comparison, however I did get some out of the shop pics of it completed. I think it set it off nicely. New struts came in for the rear door to support the ladder when it goes on. Also coming up will be the ARB re-breather mod. Good write up from Cymon, and the discussion routed me to go this way. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/215741-rear-differential-breather-mod-dummies.html

Rear Door Struts

Following Swede71 lead, (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/219432-what-best-hd-rear-door-strut-use-ladder.html ), I added Stronger struts in the rear. With a ladder to be installed in the future i figured this would be a good idea.

The struts came from Lift Supports Depot PN: PM1062N10.

The install was fairly simple:

Stock Struts. (sorry for the sidways photos, not sure how to rotate them here on the thread. Even though they are correct in file.)

Simply take a flat tip screw driver and release the clip:

After taking both off, I had to extend the door just a little bit more to get the strut to go on. Originally thinking they had a static seal on them I installed one at a time back on. Slowly made sure it would operate correctly by closing the door and opening it back up.

After the first one worked i installed the second one. On these if the insert does not line up, after you install the first insert, rotate clockwise (only) and it will turn and line up.

These will definitely hold the extra weight. Was not expecting the extra lift when I finished it up and testing, as it raised the hatch up like it was lighter then it really is. Cant wait to get that ladder on and see how it handles over all!!

with the ladder on the back I find mine lifts on its own at just the right speed, so not overly fast. And it does not take to much strength to close it

This came in today!! Another Mod!!
