Want to install trailer hitch (how much?)

Well I have a 2008 Sport Edition that does have the electrical hook-ups but does not have a hitch. will they have to cut into the bumper?


Also how much does this usually cost?

I got a Valley class 4 on ebay and love it!!! $136 with shipping 30 min install no cutting perfect fit!!!! doesn't even touch the bumper

I bought the tow hitch from Toyota and installed it my self. There is no cutting involved and only 6 bolts to turn.

Did you just get this from your dealer? How much did they charge? What tools are needed for install? Do you think installing this would be as easy (if not, I'll just go w/ the Toyota one):

It was in the $130-$140 range from the Toyota dealer. I used a ratchet, and basically just laid on my back under the truck using my legs to hold up one end of the hitch until I got a couple of the bolts in. I was very easy. No cutting on my 2006 bumper. The Toyota hitch has survived a couple of salty winters without visible rust so I see that as a big plus. Also, I have used it to pull a 6x12 trailer from Jacksonville, FL to Chicago, IL and it worked great.

I don't know what the load range of the Toyota hitch is but the only one rated III/IV 5000-7000# that I know of is the Hidden Hitch #70411. I don't know if it is still available since I got mine a couple of years ago. Hidden Hitch, Reese, and Drawtite are all the same company now. The downside is that I had to remove the rear bumper facia to install the bolts that go into the center of the cross member. The only modification is that I had to cut a notch of about 1/2" for the receiver.
I tried the Hidden Hitch # 70779 but it wouldn't fit around the brackets at the bottom of the facia and it has no center mount to the cross member.

I have the 70779 HiddenHitch. The bumper brackets need to be removed, haven't noticed any issues with the bumper either. I didn't have to remove the bumper facsia to install it, no cutting either.
