Wanted: 2006 6 disk JBL head unit

I know I am not the only one. I am looking for a JBL 06 head unit with the MP3/WMA 6 disc player... I really think toyota could have put these in the 05 models. Now I have to go and buy another radio to replace the one that works perfectly well. The dealer wants to sell me a new one, wow... they can go pound sand for that price...

This was a thread done by UoD... pretty good stuff...

Putting a 2006 JBL in a 2005 .....

Putting a 2006 JBL in a 2005 .....
There was some slight discussion in the past as to whether or not a 2006 JBL head unit would work in a 2005 with existing JBL. To the best of my knowledge, the question was never actually answered. I had called my local parts department and they were not able to offer me any information.

Well --- I just purchased a 2006 6-Disk JBL head unit from Ebay ... should be here in 3 days. I am planning on simply pulling the 05 unit and putting the 06 in its place.

I am having my JBL replaced with the Pioneer Z-1 in a couple of days. How much are you looking to spend on the unit?

I really have no idea, the ones I have seen sold went for 180.00 or less. I would like to spend about 150.00 dollars... I would like to see your HU, could you put a pic of it on the thread...

Thanks

It's the standard JBL Synthesis 6 disk changer that is in the 2006 T4R Ltd. I'll post a pic of it installed and one of it after its removed ASAP. Not sure how much to sell it for yet but I'll be reasonable on price once I determine its value.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Try the search button for the six speaker system. I have no idea about the Scion HU either. The only reason I want the 06 model is for the MP3/WMA and satellite raido features not offered with the 05 models...

Oh I see , my 06 came w/mp3 , WMA & Sat.

Did'nt know why the upgrade. Since you have not been here long enough there are many posts about Scion HU & JBL stuff. One of the first posts I saw modifications to the bezel may have to be done or an 06 bezel......apparently the search button does not work on your comp. ...lol

Some have made it look good to their taste others have not. Its plug/play but its the bezel thats caused problems for some from what I gathered.

OK, fine my search button doesn't work... I do not want to search for scion head units anyway. But thanks for the info.

It wasn't answered? What do you mean? That thread of UoD you posted has him doing the exact thing? Am I confused here?

UPDATE

I took the dash apart again to put the spacers in .... but I ended up not even needed them. Apparently, I put the bolts into the headunit before snapping the dash on. The bolts are actually supposed to go through the holes in the dash trim (which is obviously when you look at it --- but it was dark out when I put my dash back together last time and I totally missed it).

So ---- the 2006 JBL unit fits perfectly into the 05 dash without any gaps....

As far as getting the aux input to work -- I have yet to find anyone with an online 2006 parts catalog. Whenever I get one, I will try ordering the pieces for it.

Now if you want answers on the aux input, I can't help you there. I have the PIE unit on mine so I haven't explored the 2006 aux input but it can't be too hard to make work.

I do not think I want to mess with the aux input, I think UoD wanted to hook up his IPOD or something like that. I just want to put an 06 JBL head unit in my the place of the 05, and reading UoD's thread he illustrated how to do it. As I stated before the 05s did not come with MP3/WMA players, but the 06s did, Ford and GM have been putting MP3/WMA players in their vehicles since 03/04 (I think) and I was just curious why Toyota waited until 06, thats all. No biggie, I plan on fixing the issue I have by getting an 06 JBL head unit and installing it into the 05 space... I hope... And following the instructions UoD provided should make it easy. Then I can listen to MP3/WMA Cds.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Still nothing yet. I never heard back from nazt4r2001, still looking for the same model (see the pic) posted in the thread... If anyone wants to sell one let me know... Thanks

OK I just bought a Head Unit off of ebay, probably somebody on this forum sold it to me. Now comes the fun part, putting this bad boy in. I will post pics of the operation, should be pretty easy, a few members have already done this instillation.

I will let everyone know how the instillation goes.
