Wanted Revo 2 Ps but given Revo 2 LTs

So I had Discount Tire put on some Revo 2s today and they "screwed up." I had them quote me about $775 out the door for the Revo 2 P's. Sounded fine to me but when I went to pick up the truck, I noticed the white letters were facing out. The sales associate noticed it too and apologized and offered to make it right whenever I wanted. OK with the mistake, I got into the truck and looked at the bill. They charged me $1100!! So, when I went inside the assistant mgr and I realized that the new guy accidentally installed the LT Revo 2's (along with installing the wheels incorrectly). Now, to make it good they were happy to refund all of my money to the original $775 and I was able to keep the LT's. But . . . . I can return them if I want.

Here's my question . . . . Obviously, I just made out like a bandit money-wise but since I never go off-road or tow, do I have "too much" tire? Do/will the P's ride much smoother and quieter with significant better gas mileage? Should I stop questioning the obvious great deal I just got?!?!

That's a good deal but, for you, maybe only on paper. In your usage, the only advantage you get is 3/32 more tread. The list of disadvantages is longer.

I'd lean toward the Ps and if you live in one of the hotter states or like to drive fast, I'd definitely go with the Ps. They'll be a little more comfortable and get better gas mileage, too, due to less weight and shallower tread. But, like CJ3Flyr said, if you like the ride, smile all the way to the bank. I'd read his link, though.
 
Well, I live in Seattle so I doesn't really get "hot" here, ever. Plus, I don't drive fast. I'd say I drive very average.

Talk about annoying. I don't really want to go back to the store.

How 'bout this? (I'm obviously trying hard to not return) I drive very few miles total. I drive to work about 6 miles away about 6 months of the year. The other 6 I'm probably on my motorcycle. Other than that, I don't travel too far for camping or getting up to the mountains because they are so close to Seattle. I think I drove 10K miles last year and that seemed excessive. The ride I have now with the LTs is much, much better than stock. What's the difference in gas mileage because that's a pretty high concern for me?
 
If you run them at 40-45psi (approx 38psi minimum) I would suspect the hit will be minimal, 1-2mpg maybe. I doubt it'd be a full 2. The key is the to whole deal is running the TP up a bit.


MPG a pretty high concern at 10k a year? I understand not wasting money but at 10k/yr 1.5mpg is nothing... (even at $4/gallon)

Then, absolutely, don't.

I don't know if you noticed my sig but I have the same tires even though I'm uncertain how I'll be using them. So far, it's only been pavement and snow but I love 'em. Live it up and enjoy the ride.
 
The same thing happened to me when I got my Toyo OC's. Tire Discounters offered me the same options, keep'em for cheap or get the P's. I ended up staying with my L/T's.

The first thing I said when I saw my 4runner was, "Damn, those are some beefy P's." Then I got closer and immediatly realized they were L/T's. I was so impressed with how they looked that I decided to give them a try. You'll be giving up a smoother rider for sure but, like CJ3Flyr said, the mileage is minimal if you air up in the low 40's.

And when it starts to warm up in a few months make sure you air them down to keep them in the low 40's, if necessary.
