Wanting to add a LED to rear dome light circut

Hello All

I am wanting to add a low voltage LED light to the rear cargo dome light. It wont pull many amps at all. I think the dome light works off a negative switch similar to our headlights, the factory light has 3 wires going to it, my LED has 2, I wanted the LED to come on with the factory light, any suggestions?

I know the middle wire is the ground that will turn on the lights when the ILC (Internal Light Control) is triggered i.e. doors unlocked or opened. As for the others, one is constant power supply and the other is constant ground to turn the lights on when ever you want.

You can test this by removing the dome light from the ceiling, removing the plug from the light, and touching your new light's wires to the female plugs accordingly:

Since LED's are pole sensitive, make sure you can verify which wire is negative and which is positive. Attach the negative pole of the LED to the middle pin and the positive to either outer pin. One combination will turn the light on (correct wiring) and the other will keep the light off (ILC ground and constant ground - won't hurt the circuit, just all the interior lights will turn on after the doors are closed). Close the doors and verify the light fades off with the other lights. You can close the doors and turn the key to ON, not start, to skip the timer delay.

That's the quick start. The other is to dig up the wiring diagrams for the ILC and check pin numbers for the connector.
