Wanting to try a different tire size.

I know most are running 285's or true 33's/35's, but I've been thinking about something wider without the taller height. I'm considering a 305/65/17. There are a few brands/models out there and I think they work.
The height is still under 33".
Anyone ran them? Thoughts?
I'm at 4" front- 2 1/2" rear with a 1/2" body lift.

Why wider? Just for the look? They will be a lot harder to fit compared to a similar diameter skinnier tire and offer negligible, if not detrimental performance, on and off-road.

I'm a hotrodder lol. I don't like tall skinny tires.
If I don't try this size, it'll be 285's.
I go off road but nothing hardcore.
