Here are some more progress pics on the rear bumper. They were wrapping up the swing arm, but it will hold the spare, two rotopax and some mattrax. Should have everything wrapped up in the next two weeks and I will post pics then. Here ya go...

The top of the swingout pin looks really close to the body. It's CBI so I'm positive they know what they're doing though.

Is this a one-off or planned for production bumper? I really need a rear bumper that has better departure and can take some hits, as mine is full of cracks and doesn't line up with the tail light or sheet metal any more. I don't mind cutting or welding the frame, but don't want my truck out of commission for a month or two for installation.

True dat.. I asked them to keep it as close as possible and that is what they did. Nate has been great to work with and had good things to say abut your Canadian club. PS congrats on the T4ROTM win, I'd be lying I said I didn't call it but again, you deserved it.

You should ask Nathan, 208-528-0664. It is his call not mine. At least now they know what they will be dealing with. I asked him about it and he said it we be hard to come up with a plastic cutting template for customers to follow.

They are great to work with, I'd give them a call.

The good news for you is that they have already had a go at it with mine so your should go along that much smoother!

So no worries that if it flexes it might touch the body panel? It's looking really good so far. I've seriously considered making the 10 hour drive to Idaho Falls to have them make me one. If they put a 5th gen swingout rear bumper into production I won't think twice about ordering one.

Hmmm, can't say that I'm that concerned or that it was taken into heavy consideration. I'd say that you should do it and we can have twins, (yours will have learned from my mistakes), and then we can go wheeling. Perhaps Nate will join us.

I appreciate that, I think that there is some strong competition. [MENTION=74569]SOcalTRAIL[/MENTION] will be the next winner, [MENTION=68685]Ducmonsta[/MENTION], and the other August contenders leave me in the dust. But if you are volunteering to nominate me I won't stop you.

I called CBI this past week about doing a production one. They said it would be awhile before they had one ready... I think I remember him saying December at the very earliest, and that was IF they could successfully get one done. I can't speak on their behalf so don't quote me on any of that though.

Sometime I wish I would have stopped here. No funny stuff, just the way you wish it came from the factory.

Here is my older 85' Frankenstein in disguise, especially for [MENTION=49649]KidVermicious[/MENTION]. At our paint shop, getting a fresh coat of Desert Sand our team's experts fixing my novice bondo job.

Unfortunately, the older build thread will come in very slowly. So many have done such cooler things than I that I often feel its pointless on these older ones and I know so little about them compared to most.

My buddy had that on his 3rd gen CBI swingout too and I always thought it was a brilliant idea. Perfect size for a portable stove or grill for a good trail lunch so you don't need to pack a table.

There really are lots of options on that swing arm, I can't and won't list all the options because I don't even know what they all are yet.:fro:

Nathan and his team could give you the best info. From my end I had some pretty specific requests and conditions for them to meet which they have done a very good job with. When I did my first one, it was pretty intense because I like to match the rear crossmember shape which has about 9 total angles. The plastic is just trimmed but it isn't a flat piece, rather its very shapely, and you have to be very careful.

This bumper has tons of welds and bends.

For sure assuming that I'm available and that you'll show me around the granite. In other words, sandstone for granite or granite for sandstone. The more notice the better. I'd be honored to.
