Warning: OME + Sequoia wheels + 285's = serious UCA rubbing

Currently installed on my truck is:

OME 882 coils
OME 90004 struts
Sequoia 17" wheels
BFG KM2 285/70R17

I am rubbing so bad on the front upper control arms tha I cannot drive my truck until I buy spidertrax spacers.

Just thought I'd let everyone know, because these wheels are becoming pretty common.

That is another reason I'm glad I didnt got with the 285's

I might get spidertrax spacers just to be on the safe side tho.

No I've had the coil spacers up front for the longest time (which is why my truck was so raked). I've had my springs and strut tops hanging around for months, and finally splurged and bought the struts.

Also remember that I cannot say this for the OEM 5 stars or any other wheel other than the Sequoia/Tundra wheels, which I believe is the deciding factor in this rubbage.

My tires are actually a bit larger than his (I remember this being one of the first things Bryan noticed as I pulled up a few weeks back). He's on 285/70s and I'm on 285/75's. But the backspacing is most likely the deciding factor. I might just order the spacers for the hell of it. Ten bucks ain't bad.

LINY, I guess you have alloy 17" x 7.5" Tundra wheels. Do you know their backspacing/offset numbers? Thanks.

sounds like some spacers might be in order for me as well, whats is this $10, spacer you speak of or do you mean $100? i've only seen them for the later.
 
okay a closer look reveals another culprit

the BFG KM2's have very thick sidewall treads, and these are what's rubbing against the UCA

I believe it's a combination of the Sequioa wheels and the thick sidewall lugs on the KM2's



regardless, spidertrax spacers are gonna be ordered soon

I was looking for this data to calculate the max tire size I can fit into my 1999 SR5 truck.
I am planning to buy these rims for two reasons:
1. They are hub centered ( this is what I learned. Am I correct? ) so the balancing is less complicated and you don't need to ask the shop if they have the Haweka adapter kit.
2. They just look good. Don't they?

I'm running the 1.25" Spidertrax spacers too...I noticed right after I put them on that I had a vibration at 70 or 80mph that wasn't there before. After I did my rotor replacement though and had to reinstall them I haven't noticed any vibrations...maybe the first install wasn't tight enough or something else hub related wasn't right, but they're fine now!:thumb3:
