watches...

I LOVE that snowflake dial GS  I wanna see that spring drive movement in person one day.

My pretty modest collection is a Marathon General Purpose, a Seiko SNK803 on a navy/red nato, and a Scurfa D1-300 on a navy rubber strap. All very cheap in the watch in the watch world, but I've been happy with them as I haven't been into watches for very long.

I almost caught myself getting an Air King 14000 during black Friday, but decided to be more responsible for some reason.

Just found this thread will post up some pics tonight. Just posting here so I dont forget. My collection is based on moonphase pieces only. I love em and kids always like to check what the moon will be at night

It is a really great watch, the titanium makes it so light you forget it is on. The downfall of it is that it is a complete scratch magnet! It was my daily wearer and was getting wrecked. Now the explorer gets the abuse.

I want a Trainmaster Moon Phase pretty badly as well lol.

I'll check that out! My most frequent wear is this iwc 3551 I really like it and the compass inside is killer. I am a big fan of late 80s trucks watches and vibe lol the breitling attached was super cheap to the point I dont know if it is accurate but the only breitling chrono moonphase with the classic logo. I read somewhere it was a one year deal around 91. Very cool I put rubber on it to make it less flashy. That two tone I can only sport in regular clothes it's pretty gaudy but has good meaning.

I felt the same for a while but there is something about 'low tech' and watching the time move rather than change that hits home.

I’ve been a naysayer on the Apple watches for some time now ........ But got an Apple Watch 5 for Xmas. Grateful for the super nice gift but never really wanted one and still don't want one honestly. I actually like keeping my iPhone in my backpack when I’m moving around and not paying attention to every little thing. I’m very active with mtb, skiing, hiking, and gym activity but never felt the need or interest to track my activity other than what I already do on mapmyride.

Can you convince me otherwise as to why/how the Apple Watch should be a compelling keeper?

Wear it for 2-3 weeks and you will be hooked. Convenience is key. Notifications etc can be managed on the Watch. The activity tracking (even tho you don't need it) is very accurate.

BUT, the main thing is health. It will screen your heart in the background for high OR low heart rate...and also screen you for Atrial Fibrillation, which can be deadly if undetected.

There are NUMEROUS STORIES of Series 4/5 saving people's lives! The ECG and HR monitoring are game-changers!

Pretty interesting since i got Series 4. I have the NOISE complication on the watch face. I have been listening to music in my car for ages. Then one day, i noticed that the complication was showing that the noise level in my car was quite high!! I decreased the car audio volume to avoid triggering the unsafe level. Hopefully, by making this small change, my hearing won't deteriorate so much as i age.

Personally, i use INFOGRAPH MODULAR watch face.

Its all packed up and ready to be returned. I wore it for a few days and as nice and well designed a gift as it is, I just don't need or want this device. For the activity tracking (and I'm very active), I already have all I need and don't even consistently use what I have. I prefer to be more mindful of what I'm doing and how I feel and not so much about stats. For the health tracking/features/apps, I'm honestly not interested at this point. I'm fit and in good health and genuinely not interested in the details. For GPS, I find it too small.....and its fun getting lost every now and again. Its an extension of my iPhone 8 and I'm very happy keeping my iPhone tucked away while commuting and moving around and not reacting/responding to every little thing with my face in a phone. Its not me...... and don't want it to be. If someone really needs me, they'll call me and I'll answer. Better I return it and someone else can enjoy it. I can do much more for the $400+ in enjoying "experiences" I like rather than "things". Really well designed though and I can see why people love them.

Gave this to my father in law - he loved it he had the same one in the 90s it's a submariner 16613 (2nd pic) first pic I got super cheap and still researching... supposedly iwc only did one year of the moonphase chrono. I put rubber on it

Kevin O'Leary said it best, you lose your soul when you wear a consumer electronic watch :peep: lol. But really, I definitely can see the functionality of them.

I just today came across a Sub that I really want...

I never did understand that quote. Lose your soul ?

One could argue that wearing an Apple Watch may SAVE one's soul because it can detect a heart irregularity that one may not know about! Just saying...you can't take your Rolex to the afterlife...so, might as well try to spend as much time here on Earth with the help of Apple Watch. :yo:

I don't think it's necessarily serious, just kind of poking fun and being a mechanical watch nerd at the same time haha. And especially in the case of having a net worth of like $400M, I'd be wearing a Patek, AP, and Rolex in the same day myself!

I definitely see that side of it, like I said they're functional. It's all about wearing what you enjoy at the end of the day and for some people an Apple watch gets it done :guitar3:

I got the Fenix 5X about a year ago and I have not wear my other watches (Omega(s), Oakley, etc,) since. I am into running and like to track my heart rate, steps so always wore the 5X.
