Water Pump?

So I got up for work yesterday hoped in the Runner. When I started it, she was making a noise. Popped the hood and found the fan wobbling. Jumped on the bike and went to work. I haven't time to look at it yet. Is it safe to assume its just the water pump? If so any tips or things I should replace while Im in there? I know there is probably a bunch of threads just havent had a chance to search. Its an 87 22RE with 247k miles.

Timing belt, tensioner, pullies, all the belts - if they haven't been replaced in a while. Upper and lower radiator hoses, heater hoses.

And don't forget the thermostat.

If the fan is wobbling, it's not because of a belt or thermostat.

I would check out the plastic fan itself or the fan clutch. See if there's play in it. If so, that is probably where the wobble is coming from. If it is the water pump itself then it should be under $50 to replace the pump and would probably take less than an hour.

It's probably the fan clutch, but it could easily be a bad water pump bearing too, that's what mine turned out to be. Always a good idea to replace the rad hoses and belts and check the other pulley bearings while you're in there.

If you do end up replacing the water pump, don't even think about reusing the existing bolts and studs, order new ones. And make sure your torque wrench is accurate, you really don't want to be snapping off those little bolts inside your block. Ask me how I know.
