Wax Question

I just purchased a 95 4Runner and it's in very good condition and the paint is decent except for some chips and pits in the hood. They're hardly noticeable,that is until I waxed it. They filled up with wax(white)and it wont buff out and really stands out against the gray paint. My question is,is there any wax that I can use that wont do that or some way to seal it so I can use wax. I used something called 'Nu Finish'(once a year car polish,it says) I believe it's a synthetic. It seemed okay but it does'nt shine as well as I'd like and it leaves white in every little scratch and chip. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Try getting a tooth brush to get the wax out of the chips....

If that doesn't work try another wax.....something from Mother's or Meguiar's....

You can use a toothpick to nick away the wax buildup outta the pits and chips in the hood.

I would suggest you seal up those pits with a quick hit of pen-style or brush-on touch-up paint. Be sure to apply the T-U paint according to the instructions and remember to use some rubbing compound to even-out the surface.

Not only will this help you with proper waxing in the future - it will look a hundred times better.




Now - considering your T4R is a 95 - I's also suggest using a Sunday afternoon to claybar, polish and wax the truck again.

As mentioned earlier - Meguire's and Mothers are excellent choices....but not the only ones. Do some research and look at what suits you. I dont know why - but I prefer to stray from the all-in-one or wax-as-you-dry type products.
