...has anyone been complaining to Toyota?

If Toyota get's enough complaints about the lousy performance of the trip computer, they'll probably bring out a software or firmware change for it like they have about the sulphur odor problem. They're usually pretty responsive about such things, so let's start bitching a little and see if we can get something done. I'll get it written up as a malfunction the next time I'm in for an oil change.

Anybody else been letting them know?

honestly, it really is a malfunction. The computer is useless unless it provides 'somewhat accurate data'... there is more than a 10% error in this computer.. that is unnacceptable. And isn't is surprising that it is 10% higher than actual mileage, and not 10% lower...

I bet no trip computer on the 4R has ever low-balled the MPG....

Next time i'm at the dealer, i'll put the word out....

FWIW, I just called Toyota's customer service line to complain about the trip computer. I think such a poorly engineered device in an otherwise great vehicle should be a little embarrassing to Toyota and wanted to let them know.

It may not help, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea for everyone who's disappointed in the performance of the trip computer to place a call also. Maybe if enough of us complain they'll do something about it.

I agree that it is a blemish on an otherwise exceptional vehicle. The range calculation seems to be fairly accurate, but the MPG is really of no worth. On an unrelated note, as I was reading in the owner's manual about the on-board computer, I noticed that there were numerous grammatical errors in the manual itself. That is really disconcerting coming from a large corporation like Toyota, that probably does billions of dollars in sales in the US (and Canada), and yet they can't get a computer calculation right, and the owners manual is full of errors. But...I'll log a complaint on the web site about both.
