Weather tech floor mats warning

I had the laser cuts in my 3rd gen

and had to trim the mat back a tad in order for it not to interfere with the gas pedal. I have the same ones in the 4th gen and havent had to do anything though.

Actually the OP is probably more "average driver" than anyone here in this specific regard. Most drivers/owners never even think about that when they stack floormats. I'd say back in the Bay Area it was about 4/5 of the vehicles I saw had 1 or more floormats/objects (i.e. towels, cardboard, plastic office chair mat material, ect) stacked over there factory floor mats.

It's not something most people think about too much until they have to come up with an excuse as to why they slammed into someone else. Common sense and logic based thinking are not very exercised tools in today's age; litigation and scapegoating are. I personally applaud the OP for seeing his mistake and then having the guts to admit it and try and help other people avoid the same mistake.

Slightly off topic, but I'm a bit upset with the jury in this specific case:

Because the accelerator in question is a manual cable accelerator with the only motor attached to it being an IAC. Yet the jury decided Toyota is at fault for some undefined and unproven defect (I have yet to see any data providing what failed and why it was specifically a defect) in said accelerator. Guy was speeding/slammed on the gas instead of the brake and tried to blame it on Toyota because he didn't want to deal with the consequences. Even IF the accelerator did stick, it's 99% most likely due to lack of maintenance/addressing issues on the vehicle rather than a defect.
