Weatherstripping detached from vehicle, stuck to door(s)

So I moseyed out to the 4Runner this morning and opened the rear driver's side door. The weatherstripping came along with it. LOL

Thankfully, it does not appear to be a big issue...it looks as if the weatherstripping protectant dried out or something, and evidently enough of "something" was on the rear driver's side door to hold the weatherstripping to it as I opened the door.

My question is twofold:

- any consensus on what's best to reglue the weatherstripping to the frame? It is all in one piece, and not damaged at all; it's simply loose somewhat.

- Any consensus as well on what's best to lubricate the weatherstripping to prevent this from reoccurring?

I've searched this issue here, and have heard:

- anything from Gorilla Glue to JB Weld to other stuff for the glue, and
- anything from 303 protectant to vaseline to Meguiar's Wet Tire spray for the protectant.

Was wondering if there's been a better established consensus since then.

Is this the one attached t the roof ends comes down towards the gas tank lid? If so you don't need glue, it slides in to the rail at the end of the roof. Just press it against the rail and it should work.

Nope - this would be the 'door seal' weatherstripping; it goes from just behind/below the rear view mirror (when the door is opened) to just above the back edge of the rear driver's side door. If need be I can snap a pic.

You can buy 3M weatherstripping adhesive at O'Reilly. It's contact cement (put some on the weatherstrip and some on the door, let dry until tacky, stick it on). It works great and holds forever. Comes in black or yellow (get the black). I used it on my 65 Mustang - it works great. As far as lubricant, I don't know. Ask the guys at O'Reilly (they'll know if they don't laugh at you).

yep, weatherstrip adhesive is the best. To lubricate it, get a can of silicone spray, spray it on a towel, and wipe it around the weatherstrip. Done and done.
