the weather stripping under one of the side rails (Top of vehicle) partially came off today. Had to pull it off to dry off everything. Assuming this may be there just for looks? curious if this is common...etc.

Yep - happened on by 2015 SR5
That use to happen to me all the time on the driver side. First time it happened was in a drive through car wash. The drying blowers loosened it and it popped out and was left dangling. It started happening regularly at the car wash. The car wash guys that did the hand drying would push it in for me and I'd check it again when I got home. I mentioned it at the dealers while i getting the Toyota Care stuff done and they said they would fix it so it didn't happen again and that it was a known problem and had a few complaints about it. Well the fix lasted about a month and it started doing it again. I also had it pop out will driving on the interstate. Well, don't have to worry about it anymore since it has been replaced by 2017 TRDORP.
