!@#$% week for my family (Fires in Texas)

Well as some of you know there are pretty awful fires in Texas right now. Well sunday we found out that my in laws lake cabin burned all the way to the ground. The new 30k dock was saved by the neighbors thank god since that wasnt insured. The lake cabin was lake access only and it was a huge work in progress but we have had about 6 years of work into it to get it where it was. Not good news by any means but we were all dealing with it knowing that their home a couple miles away in sportsmans world at possum kingdom lake was alright. There were threats it would burn down as well and their house/shop was kind of stranded because his truck burned down at work the same day (Park Ranger). There were mandatory evacuations going on and road blocks so we were told we couldnt do anything about it. Well around midnight sunday my brother in law and I headed out because we had two car haulers out there and all the stuff that cant be replaced were still out there so we had to try. well 6.5 hours later we pulled up to PK and there were road blocks. Well luckily my job and some empathy from one of the troopers let us through and we were able to grab the 72 cutlass 442 that was my father in laws highschool car and my brother in laws 90 bronco he had. We grabbed the pictures, albums, computer, guns, and paperwork and headed out of there as fast as possible. When we left there were fires on the side of the road and only emergency vehicles around. 12 hours later we heard from our father that the house was on fire since he was stuck on the police boat in hells gate saying he was watching the house burn down and saw an explosion around where the shop was. Thursday we headed out there and between him as a park ranger and my job we were able to go out there and see if anything was left.

Glad everyone made it out okay, memories & things can be replaced, not people.

That sucks man, glad everyone was ok.

Side note: one of my battalion chiefs at work might be getting sent to help with the wildfires down there in tx. He works part time as a firefighter for the national forestry service.

Hopefully they get everything under control there soon.

by the time we got everything loaded we were pretty dead, everything was going wrong when we got there, flat tires, no power, couldnt find straps, etc. so we were lucky to grab what we got. We figured the tools woulda been fine but we were wrong. We were up for over 30 hours at this point so we were lucky to stay awake til we got to fort worth to sleep

Damn Venom that sucks man. I'm glad to hear everyone's ok, but man what a shame. No words I can offer for what you and your family are going thru, but I wish you all the best. A safe and Happy Easter, and I pray that everything will be restored to you/your family 10 fold.

I'd have throw a quad in the bed of the truck, and pulled the mustang and let that bronco burn to a crisp. Glad everyone is ok

My company has been trying to help wherever we can, but mostly what we have been able to do is watch and wait. Hard times for lots of folks out there. We feel for you and yours, bro. We will keep y'all in our prayers. Chin up and best wishes to your family in the aftermath of this disaster.

the aluminum was the first 3-6 feet of the chain before the line was attached
