Weird Electrical problem

Not sure what is going on. I recently fixed a few burned out bulbs (3rd brake light, license plate light, front marker lights) and I did the solder fix on my non working clock, that now works great.

BUT, now when I put the key in the ignition and put it on acc, the lights come on like I moved the headlight knob to the first notch, without touching it at all (this includes parking lights, rear taillights, and gauge/cluster lights and the radio). AND when I do turn the headlight knob WITHOUT the key in, the radio turns on. I guess I need to retrace my steps. Maybe a short or something. But if anyone has any suggestions, it would really be appreciated.

I know it's a weird, long winded description...any help would be great.

And this is for a 1997 SR5.

Sounds like you have a short in your clock. You are getting a power leak from the dimmer circuit to the acc circuit. Easy way to diagnose is to unplug the clock. If the problem goes away then that was problem.

Thanks for the help. Just finished unplugging the clock and everything is back to normal. The clock, after I soldered it, was working great. But, I admit maybe it was a sloppy soldering job.

I will check it out more later. I have been trying to get things fixed that I have been putting off. Fixed the broken power antenna the other day. And the clock never worked right (in 8 years).

Anyhow, I appreciate the help. Hopefully I can be a productive member on here.

Next up, change the A/C, power steering and Alt belts....
