Weird feeling in steering after ucas

MEMO CAMPOS

New member
So after installing my icon ucas I'm having difficulty with my steering wheel going back to center on its own.

My alignment is on point with
3.5* of caster
0.0* of camber and toe

My mechanic checked the torque on the uniball bolt at 54ft lb. per the icon instructions and nothing seems like its binding!

What gives?

I'd lift the front end off the ground and see how difficult it is to turn lock to lock with the engine off. Turn the wheels by hand to check for binding. Check lower ball joints, uniballs, tie rods. Make sure your sway bar is re-attached properly.

Thank you guys for your help!
I'm gonna have my guy check on the tie rods, could they possibly be on too tight?
After loosening the uniball and resetting the torque it got way better! But there is still a hint of it towards the last of the return to center. It does take me a bit of correcting the wheel to get it in the middle.

Unless any tie rod ends were changed, I would say they are low on the likely cause list. Since you mentioned resetting torque on the uniballs made a large difference, and since those are what was installed, I would focus attention there.

Check for correct spacer/washer/bolt order and installation, make sure the uniball moves similarly when loose and when torqued.

Does the UCA move up and down without a ton of force? Was the pivot torqued to 85 ft lb?

Will do sir, when you say pivot is that the area where the bushings are at or the nyloc nut underneath the neck of the spindle?

Did you lube your uni-ball? I read here a few weeks ago that someone else was having trouble with their brand new UCAs and it turned out that they forgot to lube it before installing them...

Do you have pictures of how the abs sensor wire is mounted to each Icon UCA? I'm just curious to see how it mounts, lol.
