So a few months ago, my fuel gauge suddenly started going really wonky.
If I filled up a full tank of gas, the meter would read empty.
If I got down to about half a tank, it would read all over the place.
Bottom line, it either always read empty or it was incorrect.
I googled the issue and some suggestions were to either replace the dash fuel gauge or to replace the sender in the fuel tank. I never got around to either of those.
Then last week I did a couple things. And one or both of them fixed the issue. Not sure because I didn't notice right away.
1) I replaced my 140k mile original fuel filter (holy moly).
2) Later that afternoon, I filled up with gas. But this time I double-clicked instead of stop fueling up after the first full-click.
When I got back in my car, I noticed the fuel gauge read full.
And here I am, three tanks of gas later and everything is still working great.
I guess I'm happy.
