Weird noise after off roading: help

so i went on an off roading expidition with my friend last weekend, the 24th. it was really intense with deep rutts and huge swamp holes and mud/rocks and all the good stuff that we love. my car handled it well, its a 97 limited with a 3" suspension lift and 1" body lift with 285/75r16 nitto trail grapplers. when i got back i washed it down and noticed that i had torn a CV boot on the passenger side, the boot that is on the upper part of the axle, not the one connected to the wheel. The week before that i had torn the driver's side one and i got the whole axle replaced for 300$, not to happy about that. i ordered a new one, 90$, and i am planning on replacing it tomorrow by myself with the help of my mechanically handy neighbor to save a lot of money. i drove on the torn boot all week because it is my daily driver and it was doing fine but today i noticed a high pitched squeaky/metal-on-metal rubbing noise. i only heard it when i was backing up and turning right at speed above 30 mph. my question is that is it the passenger side torn CV boot, or is it something else? it doesnt make the noise when i press the breaks so i dont think it is that.

Yea the sound you are hearing is most likely the CV. You were driving through mud with an open boot, most of the grease is now gone, replaced with mud. Mine did the same thing. They are not hard to replace, takes me about 30 minutes at most.

thank you for your input, i also think it is the CV but i just had a little freak out thinking i broke something else. for replacing the axle are there any special tools needed? i have all the regular auto repair tools and hi-lift jacks.
