Weird problem

Hey guys, I'm looking for a little help. Problem started with my keyless entry not working. None of the buttons would work. I did the obvious, replaced batteries, checked programming, etc, and nothing worked. One day, I shut the back door, and all of the sudden it started working again! Then it would stop again, I would open and shut the back door a few times, then it would work. During this time, I also discovered that when the keyless didn't work, neither did the rear window switch on the dash, or the rear defrost. Well, this bandaid of opening and closing the rear door has stopped working. Any ideas? I thought maybe a switch of some sort or a loose wire harness.

Check the condition of the wires in the harness from the liftgate to the door frame. Years of opening and closing can stress the insulation and conductors leading to breaks and shorts.

Thanks Durk. I finally opened up the harness, and sure enough there was a wire completely cut. Now good as new. Good thing, I was getting tired of unlocking my car with an actual key. Talk about roughing it!

quick question.... did you have to cut open the whole loom to find it? I cut open the rubber that was under the plastic tube, but nothing found. Pulled back the rubber ends and black tape but nothings as well. Any help appreciated.
