Ok, so I bought this runner a couple months ago,and since I've had it there has been a problem with warm or hot starts. It is an 06 V8 with about 120,000 on it. I know alot of people are going to say fuel pump right away,and I realize there is a "check valve" so to speak in the pump to keep pressure up. The thing is that when cold-like 0 degrees cold even, it starts perfect/normal. I drive around for 10-15 minutes,turn it off, and it sits from anywhere between 1/2 hr and up to a couple hours and it cranks like crazy before it finally starts. Once it is running,it runs and drives normally. If I shut it off for just a few minutes,it will start right back up. It has to sit for about 20-30 min to have the problem. It always starts, but it cranks quite awhile. No CEL or anything ever. The only other thing I notice is the idle seems a little high and kind of irregular compared to my wife's 05 V8. I've spoken to my local dealer,and they weren't much help as they hadn't seen it before. I was thinking maybe fuel pressure regulator? I just thought I would take a shot here that maybe someone else had experienced this too....The only thing I have found in a web search is someone saying maybe crank or cam position sensor. Anyways, any insight is appreciated.

Sounds like a problem that you need to troubleshoot logically. I would check everything I could one thing at a time, ign. timing, spark, fuel pressure, etc. until I either found the problem or eliminated everything I could until the only thing left must be what's wrong.

I've experienced a similar problem but it happens after its been sitting at work for 8-9 hours. It's happened maybe 3 times since I bought it last June. It'll sit and crank about 3 times longer than normal and barely turn over when it does. It always has enough gas, plugs are new and battery is fairly new. I'm not to worried about it but I don't like it. Any ideas?

sounds like a bad battery. If it takes a couple hours to reproduce the starting issue then i can only assume your battery is not holding a charge for long periods of time however your charging system is keeping up with it say when you shut it off and wait maybe a half hour your battery hasn't had enough time to drain enough to cause the problem.
Even a fairly new battery can go bad pre mature thats why they usually have a warranty period.
you can do a load test on the battery to see if it's holding charge, or take a voltage reading right after the engines been running for a while. then let it sit for a couple hours and take a voltage reading to see if there is a voltage drop durring the time period. That would at least rule out a bad battery.
I have 154k on the odometer, no fuel pressure issues or fuel pump problems to date so I can't assume that to be an issue it seems more of and electrical situation to me

I thought about the battery too,and I will test it to rule it out,but the thing I don't understand is when it sits overnight and is stone cold in the morning, it starts right up no problem....I live in the frozen tundra,so it has been exposed to some pretty cold temps the last couple months,but always starts right up in the morning. I was hoping I wasn't the only person to experience this...

The only starting issues I've had non-related to the charging system is over this past winter I went dredging through a pond. some water made its way into the starter it would short out the ignition circuit so when i turned the key you would just hear a click like the battery was dead; however, after cycling the key from start to off a couple times the circuit would eventually catch and the truck would crank up..
the only time the vehicle "struggled" to start was when my battery started going bad. Sometimes it would fire right up and sometimes it would take the truck a little bit to turn over fast enough to crank. I guess sometimes the battery would hold charge and others it would lose charge kinda one of those mystery electrical things.
