I cannot see the "like" icon that I can click on any forum post.
I looked into my settings and can't find anything there either.

Can someone possibly help me with this?

Done. The nine super moderators each got a message today saying their thread tools (merge, move, lock, stick and delete) work in every forum again. Thanks for the nudge.

I am completely guessing...but often forums use volunteers that are trusted and held in high esteem by the forum community to have special powers to enforce community guidelines (flag and remove inappropriate content, ban bad users} and keep the discussions into devolving into no-no debates like political campaigns by monitoring the forum threads. On top of that, they are expected to be neutral and respectful to all users to set the tone a positive tome for the forums.

IMHO, it is quite the honor to be invited by a forum to function in that role.

You're explaining what a moderator is to a moderator of 10+ years on this forum?
