Weld together front bumper kit?

I got the prototype done earlier this week for the 88-95 trucks and 90-95 T4R's. I didn't cut the holes and openings out for sake of hurrying the process along, they will be similar to the model for the earlier trucks.
We weighed the 1st gen model at 66 pounds with out tubing, this bumper is a little bigger so maybe 70-75 pounds, we will know for sure once we get one cut out.

Are the 1st Gen 4runner bumpers ready? I can see the gold 4Runner in the pic has a rear bumper too.

Thanks,

We are just about ready to release them, they are in the final stages of qc.
The rear bumper on the gold runner is a custom one. I will be updating my build thread with the details soon.

Tacoma bumpers are on the list, just not sure when we will get to them.

I will post up some more complete pics soon.

Well the first one is always a custom one.....:lmao: and then more are made for the rest of us...:hatsoff:

But seriously there is a lack of nice bumpers if you don't like tube, especially for the rear with a tire carrier. Even something simple just not to have the tire inside. Personally I guess I can keep my tire inside, the truck is offorading only. Extra gas is my problem too. It's a debate as too whether it is even a good idea to keep gas cans on your rear bumper but is it good to keep it bouncing around inside either offroading.

The chrome shell on my rear bumper is going to disentegrate with rust soon. So a replacement is in order just as much as a nice front one. And a tube rear looks odd.

How would a bumper like this accomodate a body lift? Doesn't matter or easily adjusted?

I have the prototype done for the 1st gen runners and 2nd gen trucks, here's some pics. There's no tubing on it, as that will be an option.

The front bottom portion is cut out to fit around my rec. hitch but I think I would like to make this a triangular hole with the bottom of the bumper being continous, that way the customer could just cut the strip out of the bottom if they decided to use a hitch like I have.

Probably going to have to trim the grill a little to get the winch to fit with out rubbing the grill.

We weighed the prototype at 66 pounds with the mounting brackets which puts shipping at or below $50 to anywhere in the lower 48.
We will know pretty soon what the end price will be but it looks like it's going to come in the $300 range as anticipated.
Thanks, Steve.

These pic links are dead.

Is there an update for this kit for the 2nd gen 4runner/truck. Really interested in it. Do you have any pics of various options

I want one for a second gen 4runner. Looks great! Does it have a mount for a wench as well? Which type of wench?

Thanks
Randy

I would be interested in one for the front of my 2nd gen. 4Runner down the road (just blew way too much on another part of the project!). I'm REALLY hoping for something for the rear, definitely with a swingaway spare--I keep hearing that TAG (the only decent one I've found) isn't a great company to deal with. As far as options on the front, will there be a full-width grill guard as a possibility? The prototype looks great!

That back bumper sounds good too. I would also like the swinging tire rack as well...

I've looked high and low...

I've done a lot of searching, and Tactical Armor Group (formerly Kennesaw Mtn. something or other) is the only place I've found with the full package, but I've heard a lot of bad reports about them (take forever to deliver, lousy customer service, etc.). I absolutely don't want the spare anywhere but on the back--I can't see wasting a nice roof rack on a spare tire (that's where my camping gear belongs!), and I don't want the darn thing inside the truck. I'm so desperate I've even drawn up plans for a home-built one, but I don't want to risk sloppy welds, etc., making it look cheap. I like the fact that these guys at CBI are visiting this site, seeing what 4Runner fans are interested in.

We are getting ready to do the first run of these, should have them ready to ship in 3-4 weeks.
Options would be, grill protection tubing, head light protection tubing, rec. hitch, and turn signals.

Yes they come standard with a winch mount, any brand of low profile winch will fit.

Honestly the back bumper for the 2nd gens probably won't be ready until late spring, early summer.
The full width grill protection is an option.

Swing aways are an option for all rear bumpers.

We can always do a custom fully welded bumper sooner than the DIY's will be ready if you need it soon.

Thanks for all the feedback, Steve.

ive got a 2nd gen that needs a rear bumper drings and tow capability would be a must.

Ive also got an FJ60 that i built a full swing out for, but i need a front bumper and my torch is toasted. Ive got a miller 252 so a diy would be fine. You ever built a front bumper for a 60?

If you could build a matching set for front and rear on second gen for around $600-650 or something around that with a winch mounting plate. I would be very interested!

I like it!

Nice part is you can adjust what comes in to make it more your own. How about offering build sheets (blue prints) for a fee to purchase metal locally?? Just an idea.

We build D-ring tabs into all our front and rear bumpers, and rec. hitches into the rears.
I built a front bumper for an fj60 about 8 years ago out of tubing. I don't have a vehicle here to work of off, go for a road trip and we'll put one together for you.:biggrin2:

The front bumpers come with a winch mount, the rear bumpers won't be ready for awhile, but they are coming.

so has anyone got theres yet ?

are these a go ... ?

These are a go, we are in the process of the first run of these right now.
We have sold the very first ones to locals who have assembled and installed to ensure the parts are correct.
We are taking orders for them now.:drummer:

It would cost you more to take the drawings to a local shop and have just one bumper cut and bent than it would to just buy the parts from us, as we could not offer these at this price without doing them in larger quantities.

super interested in a front one for a 89-95 style truck ..
but I think shipping might "kill" it ..

can you quote me shipping to BC , Canada (business address) V2A 3H5

you can email me if you wish [email protected]
I would need it ASAP , customer booked for Jan 13th
