Welding frame holes

In some of the images, you can see the tip of the AC drain hose extension that I put up this past weekend. Before that, it was draining right on that section of the frame that rotted out; the original owner could have spent $6 and 5 mins to extend the hose to save me from having to spend $650! Oh well...

I'd argue it was more Toyota's fault for not painting/coating/undercoating or even just using a better grade of steel with more corrosion resistance. A/C condensate shouldn't rust out a frame.
 
It's really quite baffling to see how they made the condensate drain point directly onto the frame. They could have made the tubing literally like 2" in either direction and it would drip onto the ground. I love Toyota but some of their engineering decisions are real head-scratchers.
