Welding rear spring hanger on bend of frame?

I got some All Pro leaves for the rear of my '89 T4R. I bought the Ruff hangers. Instructions says to move the front hanger 6" but that puts the hanger right on the bend on the rear of the frame. I'd like to have as solid of foundation as possible for welding this on but not sure with it in this position. Any advice or tips?

I don't have a 4runner, but the xtra cab ('87) and I believe the frames are mostly identical between the two. You sure there's a bend there? IIRC, I've seen this done before and its moved further towards the front of the truck, and it looks like the frame should be relatively straight.

So, front receiver moves 6" towards front of vehicle, not back, just to be clear on this.

Yeah, all-pro springs are 56" so the front hanger moves out 6". With chevy 63" its moved out 11" which is plenty flat. I was just going to build up the area a little where the bend is but wanted to check around first before doing it.

Check with All Pro, but how are you with filling? Tack it so it's got the same separation at the leading and trailing edge, run a filler bead or four inside it to build up, then burn in the sides.

OR - got a torch? Heat up the hanger and bang on it until it matches the curve of the frame. Then once it's in place, throw some reinforcement plates on the sides in case you've messed with the temper or anything.

You could consider going with a stock style mount and return the Ruff Stuff mount

In your pic it doesn't look like you went 6" forward.

Edit- I went 6" forward on my 81, I don't believe the rear frames are that much different and the mount ended up being on a flatter part of the frame

The All-Pro & Trail gear springs are all similar length and require a similar placement for the mounts
