Went out for errands, came home with a 2010 Limited

What's up guys, new owner here. Did tons of research prior to buying.. I was all over the place with my new car choices.. from a BMW 335, to a used M3, to a Pathfinder, to an Armada, to a Maxima, to a WRX, to a used S4 and a used Q7. Test drove, watched reviews..it's all been very frustrating cause I'm so damn picky. I've been eyeing up the 4Runner for about a month, drove it and loved it. The 2010 was so nice inside and out, so much different than previous years I think, especially the limited being more on the luxury side than the rigid side, which is what I was looking for. Walked into the dealership the first time and there was a white one on the showroom which ended up that was the one I bought 3 weeks later. But not before test driving 2 black ones on separate occasions. I wasn't sure if I wanted a sports car, sedan or SUV.. decided on the SUV cause I'm always working on the house and stuff, plus I have a big dog and I think something small without some space might cause regrets later on.

Blizzard Pearl, Navi, and slide out tray. Got this thing last friday the 11th and been loving every minute of the last 200 miles i've put on it. Coming from driving a 2006 Scion xB for the past 3.5 years, this is quite the upgrade. 32mpg down to averaging 14mpg woooooooo :banana: That 14 is still my first tank, so hopefully it will get better once broken in. Only bad part about this purchase is my house doesn't have a driveway, so this baby will be parked on the street for the rest of it's life

First upgrade will be running boards, does anyone make these yet?

Kind of reminds me of buying the Nissan Armada that we bought 1 1/2 years ago. I test drove about 30-40 different Cars / SUVs / Trucks. Looked at every review, every website, drove multiple vehicle twice back and forth until it was the Armada that I settled on. Now the actual buying took longer than a "trip to the grocery store" but after enough dealing around I got a great deal.

So how is this related to the 4runner? Well the 4runner was my personal runner-up. I really liked it from a driver perspective, but neither me nor the wife could stand it from a front passenger perspective and it didn't have enough room in the back. Then when the wife totalled our second car earlier in the year the decision to get the 4runner really only took 5 minutes. The research was done - went to a few places to confirm our decision and then we signed up.

The point being -- all that research is good to have done and will serve you well in the future. Still have the same issues with the 4runner, but as a second car for us it is fantastic and the wife loves driving it.

I'm not married but what's that got to do with me not having a driveway?? Bought this house 5 years ago when I was 21. Think I'm doing alright by myself. I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not

it wasn't as easy as going grocery shopping and just buying a car. I did my research, test drives and just as we were out that night i decided to just go pullthe trigger already and stop dragging my feet. Actually the gf insisted we go cause it's all I talked about for a few weeks lol

When it comes to homes, certain attributes or lack of them (driveways, garages, etc) tend to be less important to a single guy.
When one gets married those attributes can be a "concern" for a wife.
Eventually those "concerns" get to the point where they have to be addressed (unless one is totally deaf) and a house is "upgraded"
to one that has the attributes that the wife is "concerned" about.

My brother (who is married) says it best. "Even when you win, you lose, just agree/give in and move on".

Congrats! I assume you don't have a garage since you don't have a driveway. Unless i'm blind, I haven't seen a house without a driveway but i did see some houses with no garages and only a driveway to it's side or front.

our house has a garage, but you can't fit a regular vehicle inside. so its relegated to our tools, lawn mower, pressure washer, and our 4 wheeler. about the only actual vehicle you could fit into our garage would be something akin to a geo metro or a suzuki samurai. we've been busy getting quotes and prices on gravel and renting a bobcat to regravel our driveway. the gravel is cheap (14 bucks a ton) but the bobcat and the dump bed trailer are the spendy part.

all this is on hold currently because we now have to pay to get our diesel truck fixted.....my fiance took out a telephone pole 2 days ago at work thanks to nobody fixing the roads....9.5k worth of damage to the truck...so the driveway is out for now.

had her for one full month as of today the 11th. pushing up against 1600 miles and averaging 16mpg. very happy so far with everything except the mileage lol but that's partly my fault.
