Have you drilled into the roof to run any wires for lights? My buddy took his new Taco to a shop to have them install a light bar on top (rich kid), and they didnt seal the hole where they drilled at and it started leaking.

When you open your sunroof there is a drain hole in each of the front corners. I had a ton of fir needles and other gunk in mine causing water to leak out by my driver's side sun visor onto the seat and floor. You can push weedeater string down the drain tubes to clear them, and then check by pouring a little water down the hole-- the drains empty out under each of the front doors. I think there are rear drain holes too for the sunroof but I didn't check those...

I used to get this in the Surf (no sunroof).
It was happening underneath the carpet, the topsides of the mats were dry.
One, I took out the side-footwell (we are RHD) trim to see if there was any water there and discovered the feed from the washer bottle to the rear wash-wipe nozzle was disconnected. So I connected that and ruled it out at the same time, because until then, I didn't know I had a rear nozzle and had never used it
The other thing I'd found while searching was that the outlet drain for the aircon could sometimes get a block from grit or a spider or somesuch, so had that blown through with an airline.
Been dry on the floor since.
I do know the car is not completely moisture proof because I get ice on the inside of the screen on properly cold mornings. I guess as the seals are around 20 years old now, it's to be expected.

Step 1, used some Black Silicone RTV stuff to plug up the firewall grommet.
Now I sit back and wait to see if the carpet dries up and doesn't get wet again.
Well, this was great info for finding the clog and clearing it! Left front sunroof was as clogged as could be. But now my sunroof won't close. It didn't want to close at all, but when we helped it, ti went about 80% of the way and just froze. I can open it and pull it back closed to the same point, but not all the way. Any ideas? I'm heading back to the search function.

Rust on the outer edge of my windshield has done this to me. It comes in up near the roof and then drips down on the floor, this of course is contingent on you being parked at a certain angle.

My sunroof drains are looking good, but looking forward to checking my roof rack and windshield for leaks. Similar symptoms to op in my vehicle.
Another reason why it may be wet. Which can be over looked. Is your rocker panels pinch welds drains are clogged. When it rains. The front sunroof drains water directly inside the rocker panels. Then it drains outside. If clogged it can fill with water and could possibly food the interior a little. I my self extended my front sunroof drains directly outside and away from the rocker panels. Plus good way to avoid rust.

Yep, that fixed mine. there was a power wire to a trailer brake run through that area with the rubber pulled back instead of penetrating it. I did the same on my Tahoe, running the wire THROUGH the rubber not around it.

Even then, be wary - water POURS over that grommet when it rains and the truck is parked.
