Update!
Getting really annoyed. After removing my carpet, power washing it. Installing new carpet padding because the OEM was shot and wet. And after running , few wires through original grommet I've been noticing that under the driver, left pillar it feels wet under the carpet when it rains. I put a full tube of silicone from inside and engine bay side around the wires that run through the grommet. Sprayed water on it to see if the water is still penetrating. And I didn't see anything unless I'm missing it. And it's very annoying knowing I keep finding moisture / water. The black stuff is por15.
You can see little bit of moisture. Some soaked into the carpet padding. Actually few days before this, I cleaned up little more water then this. There was some in the V channel. It's been raining in NJ for last week and half.
I noticed it wet around both plastic plugs. But from under it looks like a tight seal. And the same from inside.
Looks dry, no water trail. Next to the pedals. I'm sure I'd see some? No?
This is undercarriage right under the driver Rocker panels. Hard to see but each 4Runner has those holes in the rocker panels. Usually covered with a tar type 1"x1" tape. Mine came of. Due to years, power wash , off roading. So I think maybe water splashes into the hole, and up through the little openings inside the car ?
Anyone having or had this issue ? Could it be the wires going through the grommet ? 2 4g wires and 5 12g wires. But I put a lot of RTV silicone.
Another conclusion I have, that because I have the wire loom over the wire. Not the plastic kind. You can see in few pics the style of wire loom. That the water seeps through the loom , down into inside ?
