Goods: you can remove minor surface imperfections with super fine grit sandpaper. 1500 or higher.

Bads: Sand too much or burn thru with the buffer and you just blew $500 to get the panel painted.

Verdict: Don't do it unless you are a professional. Why would you want to remove a layer of clearcoat?

It's really easy to do BUT really easy to f*ck up. Just use the finest grit possible and continually wet the surface. Also, don't use a circular motion- move back-and-forth. If it is done right you will be left with a smooth, true show car shine. No polish or compound can compare to a sanded finish.
