Just replaced the rear shocks on my '02. I can't imagine what fun that job would be if the vehicle spent any time in the salty north! Jap engineers mus be laughing about that top mount design! Worth the effort..rides and handles so much better.:jump:

Saw-zall will "cut" your installation time by probably 75%

I was seconds away from the cut off wheel for that drivers side but the big pair of channel locks and a longer ratchet broke it loose. If it wasn't a North Carolina vehicle it wouldn't have worked.

Yes, they are not fun to do, especially when your vehicle spent it's whole life in NY/CT.
I did mine about a year ago, and just last night while on lift at work, I reached up there and found nothing but dirt and little rocks. And yes, the little drain hole was clogged with a rock that I dislodged. So I cleaned it out with shop air and should be good to go for another year.. Will have to keep up on cleaning the little pockets out every year.

My rig came from Chicago so this was my preferred route! Word of caution...let your shocks fully cool before hacking into them. The liquid gets hotter than you imagine and doesn't feel good when it splatters on your skin. :nono:
