What about our Transmission fluid???

I am relativley new and I am at 60k on my 02. Do we still use that same type iv fluid that the 4th gens use. Can I use something else like a good synthetic? I was going to have a mechanic flush it, should I have him pull the pan and clean the filter....HELP ME...Thanks

ANYONE???? I searched and I counld really find an answer about the 3rd Gen. Can I just change it or should I really flush it.

the amsoil Universal ATF should be fine for you.

There is no filter in your tranny, just a screen. I had the tranny in our '98 flushed at 30K miles and replaced with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF, since I towed a 4,000# trailer extensively. The tranny continued to perform like new until I traded the vehicle at 75K miles/5 years of age.

Just draining and refilling the pan only replaces a small percentage of the ATF, which doesn't strike me as being worthwhile.
