*..What am I doing wrong..Keyless Entry Program..*

OK, my 4runner only came with 1 key and 1 keyless entry. I ordered one off of ebay from midwest keyless and when I follow these instructions at www.programyourremote.com I always get the "door lock cycle twice" which indicates that it did not take. Midwest has sent me another one with the same results. Do I need to clear all remotes and start from scratch or first program the one that already is programed or what? I dont want to end up getting the one that is programed un-programed and then none of them work. Please let me know. Thanks

Good info.
I would say this has nothing to do with your original single remote so leave that one alone.
I've never had to do this myself but it looks like you are most of the way through the routine just before the last step hangs you up. Are you getting to Step 5 "successful entry into programming mode" with the power locks unlocking? Maybe the routine is very sensitive to simultaneously pressing the two buttons and for exactly 1.5 seconds at Step 6a. Try this step for varying lengths of time to hit just the right timing.

I had a bit of trouble with mine when I ordered from ebay. I had the same trouble you did, I kept getting the 2 unlocks at the end, then I re did it and some how it worked.

I know on my instructions there were different steps for programming a new remote or reprogramming a previously used remote.

Check around on ebay to see if there are some other links to reprogramming instructions on other sellers' websites. I know mine came as a hard copy in with the remote.

Also check to make sure the key you are using to program is the master key and not the valet key.

Got it!

Apparently I was holding the lock and unlock together to long, 1.5 seconds instead of 1second which is what I tried and whola its programmed. Thanks for your help........all is well.
