I just got finished installing a T1819 in my 03 4runner. I lucked out and got all the adaptor cables with the stereo and ordered the blue tooth microphone to make a complete install. Please be aware that this unit is not plug and play like the previous Scion/Pioneer stereos into the non jbl 4runners. You need to have at least 2 adaptor cables that plug into your existing wiring and plug into the T1819.
For reference the cables needed are
PT546-00120-AD antennae adaptor
PT546-00120-CH 20 pin +8 to 28 pin
PT546-00120-US USB male to female (optional if you do not need usb input)
PT546-74120-MC IQ Mic Kit (the blue tooth will not work without this)
Everything was plug and play (with the adaptors) except the usb adaptor. I previously had installed a t1814 and had taken it apart and soldered the usb cable to the board to get ipod compatibiility. Since I had recieved all the adaptor cables for the T1819 I cut the end off the usb adaptor and soldered a usb cable to the adaptor cable. I found a thread on another forum that showed the cable match ups:
USB Cable----------------> T1819 USB Adaptor
red ------------------------->red
black ----------------------->black
white ---------------------->purple
green ---------------------->brown
The T1819 usb adaptor cable runs around $60 so if you do not have one it might be cheaper to solder the usb cable onto the board but I have not seen any info on how to do that.
I purchased a Scion IQ blue tooth microphone that plugged right into the adaptor cables. I mounted the speaker on the top of the stearing wheel column and it works well there.
Because of the addition of the adaptor cables it makes for a litlle bit of a tight fit to get everything back in the dash but it can be done.
Anyway the unit works great and allows you to stream music via bluetooth as well as make and receive phone calls. If you add the usb cable you also have ipod controls if you have a seperate unit you want for music (I use a nano). I also think the T1819 has better sound quality than the T1814 - T1815. Another interesting note is the T1819 has a small cooling fan instead of a heat sink. You can hear the fan if you turn the ignition on but not while listening to music.
I ended up spending around $250 with the unit, cables and purchase of the microphone. It is a few bucks but I love the fact it looks factory in the dash and i still have my steering wheel controls.
Now I can see about selling my T1814 to recoup some of my investment.

just installed a pioneer fh-x700bt
great deck, great sound, direct connect blue tooth to iphone. dont even have to take it out of your pocket.
Now you need to do the HVAC LED swap to match!!

I just ordered a Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS for my 3rd gen. a couple days ago. It has all the gadgets and goodies you're looking for (HD Radio, Bluetooth, Ipod/Iphone ready, Satellite radio ready,etc.) @ under $300 on Amazon. From what I have seen/heard, it has the same functionality as the X8500BHS that [MENTION=94512]shaxs[/MENTION] has pictured, with the sole exception of a slightly smaller screen (6.1" overall vs. 7" overall).
This is true. Only major differences are the screen size and the fact that the X8500BHS has a detachable face plate for security.

Hello! I just bought the same pioneer fh-x700bt, i have a 2003 4runner with JBL synthesis and i want to install the head unit only, do i need the tyto 01 metra or is there any other way to make it work with all the car audio components.

you're gonna need to buy the metra kit but when you get the metra kit locate the blue remote wire that is marked separately. this wire needs to run the amp which should be prewired throughout the truck. im not sure if you have an amp that runs the speakers as well. if that is the case, i am unsure of how to go about that. it may be the same process. hope that helps at all.

Stereo Upgrades [moved]
PICS - Alpine Head Unit, Amp & Infinity Kappa's
Today I would like to talk about a few Stereo Mod's I've done. I put these speakers in over 2 years ago but last week I had my door panels off and thought I would take some pictures.
The panels are really easy to remove for anyone who hasn't done it before.
I needed a new stereo because my beloved 2003 Alpine MP3/CD Radio finally died last month. *It is pictured below
I ended up buying a really kick-@ss used Alpine MP3/CD Premium Head Unit on EBAY for $200. *It has a born on date of 2005

Here is my new (used) Alpine 9835 MP3/CD Head Unit. I cannot stress enough how much of a difference the 4V pre-out, 109db signal to noise ratio and the TILT feature make this thing awesome. Bought on ebay for $109 + $99 for a new faceplate.

Dash kit needed for double din?
I just ordered this unit on Amazon for $119, plus the $5 Metra wiring harness, for my 3rd gen. Does anyone know if I need to buy the Metra dash kit, or will the stereo fit by itself? I was at my local Crutchfield and when they looked up the necessary install components, they weren't showing that I needed a dash kit with the double din. Just wanted to double check what you all have done.

I installed the same system with the metra harness. But I have to turn the volume all the way up to even sort of hear it. Did I wire it incorrectly?

Clarion NX603. Love it so far and only $450 on amazon. Have not got it to work 100% with my iPhone 5c, but still working on it. Everything else (GPS, iPod, DVD, etc) is perfect. I spent over twice that for my last ken wood unit.
