What are all the blanks for to the left of my rear diff lock switch?

Depending on the model you get (Limited, SR5, Sport) some offer additional options that require a switch. In my runner I have the VIP RS3200 keyless entry and alarm system and the indicator that lets me know (and theives know) that my security system is armed uses one of those spots. I used two of my blanks to put in a "make the in-dash dvd player think the e-brake is engaged" switch. Some 4runners (i've only seen em in 01's and 02's) have a window lock button that is located there. Toyota puts blank plates there if you don't have the option to make it look nice. Altough if you were ever to add an option that your runner didnt come with all you have to do is pop out one of those plates and pop in the switch for the option. It is quite convinient.

i've seen it for: fog light switch, alarm light, heated seats, or it some clutch thing for manual trannys.

If you have an automatic, one of them is a 'clutch start cancel' button. It's used for manuals so that you can just hit that button and not have to push the clutch in to start the car. I'm not really sure why they put it there, but it's there.

check the owners manual for all of them, but another one was the window lock for the rear window if you have a 4runner w/ manual windows.

For my 2002, the center diff lock is to the right of the dimmer knob, the two top spots to the left under the vent are taken by the factory seat heater switches, and below that is where I believe (not positive) the power mirror switch would go if your model was equipped without power locks/windows. Not positive though. That's the larger slot. The smaller slot was for the clutch start cancel button for manual's. I'm about to put the DE switch in that one soon

Yeah, I don't understand the reasoning behind Toyota putting both heated seat switches on the left where only the driver can control them... but I don't really mind since I'm always the one who ever has access to my truck anyways :biggrin2:

Cost is the biggest reason since it's cheaper to keep the switches on one side since the space is already there and it's not like the passenger can't ask the driver to switch it on.
