What are people doing to cover the rear mud flap hole

I removed all mud flaps after the lift I did. Now I have two major exposed cavities to get crap in in my bumper. What'd you guys do to cover those up?

I just dremeled the exposed mud flap parts. I doubt that's the recommended thing to do, but whatever. I've crushed the rears going over rocks before (insert troll comment about my n00b mistakes lol).

Yeah, well when mudding, those flaps will tear off in an instant when you go through a nasty creek. Sometimes rocks will do the same. I'm just getting rid of the flaps and covering the holes. Just curious if anyone else has done it with anything but the stock ones cut down.

The mud flaps get torn off out in the desert too, if you have to back up through sage brush or something. I'm planning to trim mine short.

Haha true statement. Had quite a few repairs on my last truck due to people removing them.

Ive been meaning to do some more flexible home made ones. I live in MN and that cavity is just a storage for absolute shit. Heaven forbid I do a bit of mudding....it takes 15 dollars at the wash it yourself just to empty those SOBs! I plan on doing some kind of flappy flaps! Just haven't quite planned it yet~

On a serious note, I trimmed my OEM mudflaps back about half way.

Yup, I just did this on mine today. Yours look like they fit flatter to the body than mine. Did you sand down the bumps around the plastic rivets?

I had RokBlokz on may last Tacoma. They were great. They used the original mounting points. I will probably get them for the 4Runner at some point.

Yes. I sanded down a couple to make them fit flatter.

Thanks. Yeah I think that would make a difference. I was thinking covering the edge with door edging but I think smoothing the edge and flattening the bumps should do it.

Same here. I cut mine back to the ridge and they have done fine since.

I ran the front without flaps for a couple of months, but wasn’t happy with how exposed the cab and cab mounts were so I made some ‘custom’ rubber rally flaps.

I trimmed mine to the opening and sanded the bumps flat. Not 100% OEM looking but not bad either.
