What are recommended in-channel window rain/weather deflectors?

I was looking at WeatherTech and AVS and their reviews are not very well. Anyone here have any good recommendations for which one to purchase?

I use weathertech’s products on my vehicles, quality is nice and fitment too.

I had weather techs on my 14 but they crack like crazy if you're not super careful with them. On an older vehicle before my 4Runner they seemed like they were made better. I could be wrong but the new ones seem thinner and just a bit more flimsy

AVS or WeatherTec

Have both on my 2018 Sienna and TRD ORP with no issues. The differences are Weathertecs are pricey and are inserted with no 3M tape while AVS are cheaper and with 3M tape.

I went with the AVS. I ran into 2 issues with them. The 3M tape they came with ended up pulling off of both the guards and window frame within a month. This was resolved with a new roll of 3M double side tape, I removed them, put on the new tape, reattached and they haven't budged in over 2 years now. The other issue is very minor hairline fracturing, on both sides, at the base of the front windows (next to the mirror). Not enough of a crack to separate entirely, and you really can't notice them unless you're really looking, but the first few times you roll up the windows, you may here some crunching.

i went with the avs low profile ones. no complaints so far. if you go this route you can remove the avs logo with a nail polish remover.

I've always used the visors that mounted/attached on the exterior, have had them on many vehicles and every now and then there would be a small leak...typically after a few years...but nothing that a fine bead of silicone couldn't fix. Overall, quite pleased with this type.

I was contemplating the in-channel version shortly after I got my Runner and like you, read many reviews, some good some bad. Some related to the lack of/crappy tape, window not closing and having to dork with the channel liner but....then I quit smoking. Problem solved.

Honestly though, I will likely go with another set for ventilation purposes and they will be the "less than appealing to most" externally mounted.

I've had no issues with my AVS in-channel. I read where the auto-up window feature would not work b/c the window would hit the guard.
Prior to install I cleaned the channel with alcohol then left the windows
up for 2 days to ensure good adhesion. Zero problems for years and
no damage to bug deflector nor window guards from using the car washes. Both are AVS brand.

Typically just takes a day or two for the inserts to "seat" and the windows should function as normal.
