I’m coming from a Tacoma that has loads of hidden storage under and behind the rear seats. Has anyone done any mods for the back to store more odds and ends? What is under the trunk carpet that it can’t be lifted up?

I am also looking for more storage for my 5th Gen... anyone have suggestions for something that can hang on the rear seat with pockets?

There is actually a decent amount of storage in front of where the jack is located under the window. Obviously not for something you need to access often but perfect for things like straps, emergency supplies, etc.
Here I was thinking I'd invented this idea all on my own this summer, mocked it up in CAD and everything, and now I discover you've already built it. Looks great!Under the trunk carpet is a piece of foam about 1-1/4" thick and some sound deadening material. It's easy to pull up.
If you check out my build thread, I removed the carpet and foam, added sound deadening on the metal and built a storage for the rear that brings it level with the seats when they're folded down. plenty of storage for recovery gear and other randoms now. lots of us on the board have built something similar.
Also, a lot of us have popped the panels on top of the rear wheel wells so we can easily open them when we want. the driver's side has plenty of room for a first aid kit.
I've also found enough room under the rear seats to store something about 8"x12"x2"
My new 2021 Venture is about a week old so I'm naturally trying to find the hidden storage space and stumbled upon this same area behind the jack storage. There seems to be A LOT of room back there, although it's difficult to get to.
I quickly found that there's a blue drain hose routed through there that comes detached pretty easily. I'm wondering if there are other things back there (wire looms, etc) that could get knocked loose easily, making it a bad idea to use this as storage? I'd like to keep a small tool pouch and battery jump starter back there but don't want to cause myself problems. Any advice or experience would be appreciated. If not, I may need to just remove that panel and have a look for myself.
On a side note, I stumbled upon Harper's thread for the wheel well storage mod, which will be another way to gain some storage. The first pic in that thread was also helpful in confirming that I had indeed reconnected that blue drain tube correctly, so thanks for that Harper (if you see this).
I’ve had that area stuffed with stuff for 8 years without issue. You need to search back to find out what the blue hose it for but I think it was to drain the sunroof. My build thread may even have pictures.
Harper, Antman & my thread also has more info on the wheel well storage – as do others I’m sure.
