I see this sentiment a lot, and I don't understand it. What's wrong with wanting an SUV that gets respectable fuel efficiency? I consider it a challenge, and not an automatic downfall of the design. You can get crappy FE in any vehicle, if you drive it improperly. Obviously the main goal of buying the 4Runner was NOT to get high FE...but that doesn't mean you can't work toward making it better. :infidel:

thats the truth well i doesnt see a big difference between my camry 4cyl and this 4runner, maybe the 2.2 engine has very big cylinders, or the car is heavy but no big differences even if Fuel Economy tell other thing

Nothing, but they are called diesels, which at the moment, none are available to the US market.

wow only 230-260 miles to the tank bak3rme? dude im getting 270 miles with the lift, 33s, and added weight.

I get 325-330 per tank, so I guess I wont complain about mileage.

265/70/16 with 100lbs of cargo and a 50# dog that goes everywhere with me while running cheap gas.

i think its possible if hes running 265/70/16 tires bc thats wat i was getting per tank when i was stock and only had subs in the back. I was typically getting in terms of mpg when stock about 18-20 and now im getting 15-16 mpg with my 285/75/16s.

how can you measure the tank ?

i put 40 liters equal to 10 galons. then i got 140 miles for that so Im getting 15 mpg is low i think. when the lowfuel turns on i put the fuel so i know how much i waste.its accurate ?:wow:

Well, it is what it is....
So, apparently I am lucky on my mileage.

Also, I have "Harley Davidson" stickers. :wow:

I run 70 mph on the highway.
And if I run the A/C it drops to 300-310 per tank.

Amen to that. I drove a CR-V 250km for $35, the 4Runner sensibly the same distance for $25, and my dad drove the CR-V the same road for $19. Mental note--going up hills with the pedal to the metal doesn't give good mileage.

I'm in the process of calculating how well I can do on fuel with my 4Runner, and for me the biggest thing is avoiding jackrabbit starts. I'm trying to keep it below 2000 rpms on starts.
