What are the real used prices?

I bought my '12 SR5 4x4 73k mi and CPO for 26,500 last December. Glad the prices haven't come down much :)

Didn't make any sense at all to buy used in my situation. 2 years old for nearly same price as new, after negotiation. Assuming you can get at least $1,500 or more off of new. Might as well buy something new with extremely strong resale value.
 
When we purchased our 2013 SR5 in Fall of 2012 we initially searched for lightly used models thinking perhaps we could get a little more for our money. We quickly learned that to see any sort of discount we would probably be looking at a 4Runner with 70k + miles. That was little hard to swallow, save $2-$3k over new or spend a little more for brand new with full warranty.

I have grown to love my 4Runner and mentioned to my wife a couple days ago that as long as Toyota makes them this is what I will drive. I'm currently trying to figure the math and decide if it makes more sense to upgrade in a couple years or drive it till the wheels fall off and then just buy new again...
 
I bought my 2010 Trail with 105k miles for 21.5k. I couldn't find anything else that touched that price for a silver trail. I had to go 800 miles to get it but it was worth it. The previous driver took above average care for it and was in South Dakota so I was expecting much more rust than what I saw in the car. Only thing that was rusted were some bolt heads (already replaced) and surface rust in random spots.

I feel like I got lucky.

I put my 12 TE KDSS 56k miles for sale a month or so ago at 30k firm. had multiple people interested before I decided not to sell and keep it...
 
I as just looking at trading my 2012 SR5P 55k miles, in on a used Sequoia and was given $25k and $26k for trade in on mine, from two different dealers. One in state and one out. The one said they would post it for sale for $28,500 probably.
 
Many of us do not spend what we spend for a vehicle.. and care for it only to 'give it away' to someone who feels that price is too high...or cannot afford it.

If you want a cheaper 4x4 either look at a Gen 4.. or hit up another brand 4x4.

Put it this way.. If you owned a 4Runner would you be *****ing about the resale value being too high? I think not.

Gotta lerk the web even harder than this forum; cargurus, clarkslist, any and everywhere. That's how I found mine,private, out of state. Paid to have a prepurchace inspection, flew to Cali, bought and drove home same day.
Dealers aren't rich because they "give deals"

Yesterday, I bought a 2014 LE for $37k with 29k miles, 3rd row option, 4x4, from a Lexus dealer in AZ. Private party would have been less but I feel it's a good enough deal for us. (it'll be my wife's updated ride from her 2005 Sequoia Limited 4x4)

I agree with others posting, a clean, low mile 4Runner is selling quick and at a good premium. I looked for months before I found ours.

Also, have a good friend who is a Toyota Service Manager, the best he could hook me up with a loaded 4x4 LE 2015 was $45k plus all the extra $. We would have still been at $51k OTD

$41k OTD door for used @ 29K miles is a good savings of $10k in my opinion

The best part: My wife says "it's kinda short, can you put a lift on it?"......."Why, YES I can!"

This is what I came to this thread to say.

I have a '16 SR5 with 1900 miles on it and TRD wheels (factorys come with it too) I'd let it go for $36,000. :cool:

Good resale value is one of the reasons I went with a T4R and 4x4 in the first place. If the resale value was shit I'd probably be in a manual tranny hard top 2dr JK.
 
$51$??? You talking Canadian or something? You can buy a Q7 for that. IMO any T4R over $40k is a ripoff. A 4 runner is just a pickup when it comes down to it.

ive owned my 2010 fifth gen limited for about a year now
i purchased it for $22,500 USD on oct 30 2015 from the dealer auction and it had 101k (highway) miles on it (old owner was so stubborn on his reserve)

FYI she was in mint condition. m i n t
not so much now. the mean streets of NYC have changed her
 
Sup guys. I just bought a 2011 SR5 with decent options and 98K mi. for $24,500. The dealer had it marked as 26,976. I told them I'd take it on the spot (after seeing service records and such) for 24.5, they countered twice, and when I was about to walk they accepted my offer.

Pretty happy with the purchase. Paying book price is hard here in South Dakota due to demand and low supply. Denver otoh has a bunch for book price.
 
picked up my 2014 sr5 premium 4wd in white about a week and a half ago 30k miles clean car fax all the service was done within 100 miles. Added the extra 100k bumper to bumper warranty (ended up getting it half price and I can go to any toyota dealership nationwide) after tax license all the other junk It was $36k otd.
I feel like I got a fair deal just checking cars.com I can only find 4 within a 200 mile radius of me. Helps my neighbor is the finance manager from the dealer I bought from. Its nuts how high of a demand there are for these and the resale reflects and to think I was about to buy new dodge ram until I found this tucked away on his lot, wasn't even listed online yet.
 
Being in the Houston, Texas area wanting a 2014 SR5P in blue that's 4wd is not awesome. Seems like the closest are in Ohio, Illinois, Virginia. So does anyone have any tips for purchasing a vehicle like this over the phone in another state?

Been pricing lately, as the gears are working for an August-ish purchase for a 14+ TEP. Found one about 200 miles away with 30k miles for $33k. That's about what I'm expecting in August, but hoping to find one around $30k.

One of the selling points for my father was resale value. Before he purchased I sent him an ad for a 2015 TE with 15k and it was about $2k more than what he was paying for a brand new one. He dropped off a check for his about 3 days later.

If you put any amount of money down and pay taxes/fees, chances are you will never be upside down on a 4Runner. The Toyota Tax (love that term...) is real, but worth every penny.
