I am looking to see if anyone may know the extended and collapsed shock lengths for the extended travel shocks like Icon or Fox for the front of 3rd Gen 4runners.
I am considering doing a custom shock set up with a set of 8" travel coilovers. I know from reading the Trails Less Traveled article (link below) that it can be done with an off the shelf 8" coilover from Sway-A-Way's, but I also know that not all 8" shocks are the same length when collapsed and extended. For example Sway-A-Way is 14.3" collapsed and 22.9" extended, while Fox's are 17.5" collapsed and 25.4" extended. So in an effort to keep the shock bottoming out at the right spot when fully collapsed, I need to make sure I am probably right where the Sway-A-Way is, but want to confirm with the shocks that are specifically made for our trucks.
I know I have seen these numbers on here or one of the other Toyota forums, but after a while searching all of them, it's been fruitless for me. Any help finding these numbers would be appreciated, thanks!
Also, just to say it, I know I could probably just buy the same 8" shocks used in the article, but I am not a big fan of Sway-A-Way shocks as I have seen countless rusted out pairs on trucks...
