What Brand Of Wheel Locks are medium cost and fits T4R 07 straight shank? Since my new 1968 VW I have never felt a need for wheel locks. My 2nd door neighbor’s 07 Tahoe has been sitting on 4 bricks for a week today.

Discount Tires felt they had 4 locks for 25.00 until they saw the need for the straight shank which requires them ordering from the Toyota Dealer @ Dealer’s cost 80.00 +. Autozone and O'Rilly auto parts show to have 4 Dorman locks in the 25.00 range but are they worth the low cost? I hear Gorilla locks are good but d/n forget the key compared to Discount Tires and Toyota having a master “Set” of keys. Please share your experiences and opinions. Thanks! jow

Honestly $80!? Our Dealership is selling them about 30-ish, factory wheel locks. Maybe call them up and ask?

mcgard makes it for toyota.

1. Will Toyota’s set of Mcgard's keys work on all sets of Mcgard locks?
2. The dealer quoted 45.00.
3. Are Mcgard basically sold at dealers or wheel shops vs auto stores?
4. All the local auto stores (O’Reilly, Autozone, Pep Boys, etc) carry Dorman.
5. Is Dorman a low grade of a lock that’s not worth the mid teens cost??
6. Discount Tires locks are 25.00 but d/n carry the shank style.

I can tell u that the original locks on my 03 had the key break on them once. The milled pattern on the inside of the key broke off. I just got another set. Big whoop. Its $40.

Per Mcgard 1 800 444 5847, local Pep Boys, and local mechanic friend.

1. Mcgard said locks could be ordered through Discount Tires, Pep Boys and etc. Dealers OEM 40.00ish # 00276-00901 After Market 25-30.00ish # 21156 (M12 X 1.5).

2. Pep Boys had the after market in stock for 31.00 (after researching), it weighs .5 oz less with shank .50 smaller. I’ll check back due to another looking closer before micing/weighing. 5 of 6 lugs fitting, I feel this will work.

3. A mechanic friend reported: Gorilla brand wheel locks are the hardest to remove. I had a friend with a used car lot who would buys cars at the auto auction. If the cars / trucks came in with wheel locks he would pay me to remove them . I have a Matco Tools wheel lock remover set that will take off any wheel lock except the Gorilla brand. I tried for hours and could not emove the Gorilla locks. I had to remove his front disc brake assy's and rear axels, then torch the back of the wheel studs then drive the stud out from the back.

Opinions and comments! Fishing in unsecured areas overnight is my concern otherwise I am in the garage. jow
