Haha, it wasn't intentional. I usually have my camera sitting on top of my MacBook so when the lens came I brought it upstairs and set it on the desk next to everything. The iMac is 27" of pure sexy.
First impressions on the lens are that this thing is built SOLID. It's huge and makes my D300 look small unless I throw the grip on it. For anyone who has seen one, the D300 is a giant body but this lens dwarfs it. I can't wait to shoot with it and get the next piece of glass to compliment it's focal range.
You should have sprung for the 2.8!! Or is yours the non-IS, in which case there is a significant difference in price.
Sometimes I wish I shot Canon so the glass wasn't so damned expensive. Ah well, you get what you pay for.

I know Canon T2i, Canon 7D & Canon 5DM2 have the 1080p on the DSLR.
I just joined Moy Photography this weekend and one of the guys is using the Canon 7D to capture video. 1080p BABY!!

I LOVE my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX580K 12.1 MP Touch-screen. Great little point and shoot camera with manual controls!!! Does everything I need it to do plus 720p HD video is nice to have. Plug in to my 42" LCD and looks great! Was $350-$400... got it for $199!:bluejump:

Photog posted earlier that kit lenses are "junk". Does this mean I am better off buying a D90 or 50D body and getting separate lenses rather than the ones that Canon or Nikon package? Or does this refer to an e-bay kit with sigma lenses?

First off...don't mess w/ ebay, I try not to deal w/ them if I don't have to. I only make purchases on ebay when they are inexpensive items. My old boss bought his Corvette off ebay w/o seeing it or driving it first.
Anywho...back on topic.
Regardless what camera you decide to go w/, don't bother w/ the Aftermarket Lenses like Sigma, Tamron, etc. Some of them are above average, but you're not going to get a true clear glass on them.
As Photog mentioned, that Canon & Nikon shooters like to poke fun at each other. I do the same, however, I make fun of both brands. There's things I like about Canon over Nikon and Nikon over Canon.
Back then...I was on the debate of Canon 40D or Nikon D80. I decided on Canon because I liked it a tad more than Nikon. Plus, my friend had a Canon DSLR and I can borrow his lenses.
Anywho...kit lenses are average. If this is your very first DSLR, I would just use the kit lens now, play around and get familiar w/ your camera. Once you outgrow what you have, then decide on what you want to get.

I would definately go with a body only when I upgrade. The kit lens is ok if you're doing photography as a hobby. But if you're planning on getting serious, I would save the money "wasted" on a kit lens and apply that towards a pro lens. The best part about lenses is they hold 80% of their value pretty easily, unlike bodies.
They only reason I wouldn't do eBay is I don't like buying used. But as with eBay and regular retailers watch for gray market items. These aren't knock offs but they're items intended for overseas and don't carry the USA warranty.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with eBay; I don't know why you guys are so against it? There are plenty of legitimate businesses on there and you can get a really good deal. Look for one that comes with a warranty and def buy it with Paypal. If something happens and it is not what you ordered and the people won't take it back then eBay gives you money back for it. You can save a lot of money on ebay because they include some good lenses in their kits. I am going to buy my Canon 7D off of their with 2 CANON lenses for around $2500 or so (can't remember now). There are some kits that include shitty lenses but usually if the lenses are the same brand as the camera they are not bad (maybe not the best but not bad). One lense you should def buy is a wide angle; regardless of what camera you end up with.
