I think I'll hold on to it.

I'm actually converting all of my DX lenses so I can switch to FX when the D700 gets replaced. Although if it's not replaced by November-ish I am going to just get it anyways.
I compared the 16-35 and 14-24 side by side today, and I am still pretty hooked on the 16-35. For the same sharpness, the ability to use filters is worth more than 2mm on the wide end for my needs. I use a 12-24 currently which is plenty wide enough, and on a FX body the 16-35 is 2mm wider than the 12-24 on my D300.
On a full frame body the 16-35 can double as a wide angle and a decent walk around lens, whereas the 14-24 serves one purpose and one purpose only.
