Agree!!

As long as it's User Friendly for you, then that's your camera.

Bottom line...it's about the final result.

Back in the day when things were still film Nikon designed there newer cameras (auto focus) to work with their older lens and older cameras to work with newer lens, this still holds true today. Cannon changed their lens about this time. Cannon lens where much quicker to auto focus at that time, but you would have to start your lens collection over. Nikon lens were more available used also.

For me I choose kept with Nikon because of the lens interchangeability, availability of rentals, and Nikon's pro support. I could also rent Nikon lens for my 4X5 camera too.

In my area Nikon had better support. Both are excellent Cameras.

In the midst of camera experts I hesitate to throw in my two cents, but for those that want more than a point and shoot but are not direct dependents of Ansel Adams I really like my Olympus Stylus Tough, it can (and has) been dropped on the ground, bounced off rocks, and taken a swim. Not a professional camera by any means but nice for trips :hatsoff:

Pentax KX here. Nothing facy, but far more capable than anything I've ever owned. Decent prime lenses can be had pretty cheap.

Bodys: Canon 7D (Main), Canon Rebel XTi (backup)
Lenses: 50mm 1.4, 10-22mm 3.5-4.5, 24-70 2.8L

I upgraded from the Rebel XTi around december and it's a whole new world! The 7D is a work horse, it shoots everything I want and the AF is ages above anything else I've used. I might be getting the 35mm 1.4L along with an 85mm 1.2L depending on how money flow goes.

Bought the wife a D90 for christmas and it seems I've already inherited it!!!!! had i known this i would have gone for the 7000..... Just saying :thumb3:

I had one of those and I'm sorry to say that the quality of pictures was so bad that it didn't make up for the durability. It was nice to be able to not worry about it, but I found that I never used it because of that. True that I was comparing them to pictures taken from a much better camera.

I ended up replacing my travel camera with a Panasonic LX-3. I'm actually quite surprised at the quality of pics that come from that small camera.

Canon 1D Mk II
Canon 1Ds Mk III

Canon 24-70 mm f2.8 "L"
Canon 80-200 mm f2.8 "L"

Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm (cheap lens)

My wife shoos a Nikon D200, with the Nikon version of my lenses.

Canon -vs- Nikon................Both make good quality equipment. If I were starting over, and had no lenses, I would start with Nikon. Reasons: Ergonomics, intuitive button placement, and the superior view through the eye-piece (on the pro bodies).

That being said, I am not unhappy with any of my Canon equipment.

Canon 5D3, 1D5, 1Ds4 Timeline

1D Mark V
It’s been said before, but a new 1D in 2011. Announced in the June/July timeframe. Full frame this time around.

5D Mark III
I received 2 different announcement dates. September timeframe and in the 28mp range from a decent source and 30mp and June from an unknown source.

1Ds Mark IV
Another person in the camp of the 1Ds4 being in 2012. 40+ mp and announced in very late 2011 or early 2012. The gist of the comment was the “1Ds” moniker will be discontinued.

I wonder how this happened. Did a bunch of Chinese businessmen desecrate this Canon 5D Mark II for kicks or were they jonesing for some cigs and had nothing but this used camera lying around?

Regardless of the reason, Canon camera fans may want to look away from the 5D camera body above. Only the bravest shutterbugs can stand the sight of such a beautiful camera filled with ashes, cigars and used cigarettes.

Unless, of course, you are one of those creative folk who wonder what would happen if you dumped out the ashes and tried to take a picture. Would the camera still work? Could you use the residual ash to create a whole new photography technique?

How the Uber-Rich in China Use the Canon 5D Mark II

My first camera ever was an Olympus C740, then i got a Canon S5 and now i've had a Nikon D90 since 2009 with the 18-105mm lense. It's an awesome camera and i use it mostly for landscape photography and use my 4runner to get to all the national parks!

I've owned the d40, d50, d80, d100, d700 and I always come back to Canon. Currently using the 5DMk2 and 24-70 lens with 580 EX flash. Couldn't be happier.
